Disappointing Experience with Bland Food and Poor Service
My experience at this restaurant was quite disappointing. The water costs money, which was an unexpected charge. The old guy at the back was disengaged, spending time on his phone instead of attending to ready food or taking payments.
I was looking forward to the Curry Katsu, but it was bland, which was a shame. The overall experience was relatively pricey, costing $29 in the end, especially compared to other options on the avenue. They also charge extra for using a card instead of cash.
While the head lady is sweet, the establishment seems to be sabotaged by the old guy in charge of the visible area, impacting the atmosphere negatively. I feel bad for her.

Good Food, Poor Service Experience
I came into the restaurant and enjoyed the environment. The decor was nice and it was quiet. We chose our seats and ordered through a QR code, as this is a self-serve style restaurant.
My two critiques are the communication/service and the food. The food itself was good; we ordered the Katsu and sushi. However, we weren't served any water during our visit.
After finishing our food, we went up to pay. We weren't checked on to see if anything was wrong; the only interactions were through our food being served and paying. When we went to pay, gratuity was added on top of our meal.
This felt confusing as the only service was bringing the food. After I went to pay, the owner approached us and questioned why we didn't tip, demanding a tip. They kept pushing until we did and left.
Overall, I didn't hate the experience, but I think demanding a tip after the service provided is not fair. I want my interaction in a restaurant to feel like we are coming into a welcoming environment. I would be glad to tip if more service was provided, but that just did not happen.
If you come here for the food, great. If you come here for an experience, I recommend not.

Rude Owner, Disappointing Food
I visited this restaurant with my boyfriend recently. The owner initially demanded a minimum spend of $15 per person, which I found understandable for a restaurant. However, the situation escalated when the same owner became extremely rude, demanding a tip for a self-serve establishment where they didn't even provide water.
Cons: - Water was not free. - It's a self-serve place. - There was little to no sauce on the katsu.
- The chicken was dried and soggy, likely from being under a heat lamp.

Good Food, Poor Service Experience
I visited for lunch with my sister and we ordered via QR code. It was a bit unsettling that we weren't offered water and would have had to pay for it. The food itself was good, particularly the udon and katsu.
However, the service experience soured things. When my sister went to pay, the cashier pressured her to pay a minimum 10% tip, citing "America style" tipping and dishwashing duties. He even made a rude comment about whether our parents taught us to tip.
While his intention might not have been to insult, the interaction was rude. Despite the good food, the service was not great.

Phenomenal Katsu Curry, Relaxing Atmosphere
I love this place and have been many times. My go-to is the curry chicken katsu, which is always phenomenal after a hard day's work. Their sushi is tasty as well, though I haven't had it as often as the katsu curry dishes.
I'll concede that the service may be slightly lacking, yet the owners are welcoming. The atmosphere, for me personally, is always very relaxing and quiet, which I prefer.

Great Sushi & Katsu Near UW
My experience at this restaurant, located on the Ave near the University of Washington, was consistently great. The owners are kind, and I've enjoyed a variety of dishes, with the fried sashimi appetizer, katsu-don, and salmon sashimi being particular favorites. The service was quick and friendly, and the atmosphere was very relaxing, making it a perfect stop at the end of a long day.
I would definitely recommend this place!

Disappointing Sushi Experience
My experience at this restaurant was not pleasant at all. I ordered a sushi roll, but the food was not fresh. The price was very high for the quality of food offered.
The service was so-so, and they charged a mandatory service fee. It did not taste like authentic Japanese cuisine, and the owner appears to be from China. I would advise others to save their money and go somewhere else.

Food Fine, Service Lacking
My experience at this restaurant involved a self-service model where I picked a table, scanned a QR code, ordered on my phone, and paid at the counter before leaving. I ordered the curry pork katsu, which came with a small soup and salad. While I was happy with the food, the service left much to be desired.
I was not given any water, and the waiter only approached my table twice to drop off food. Upon checkout, a gratuity was already added to the total. As I was dining solo, I was then handed a receipt to add another tip, which I did not do.
I overheard another customer arguing about a tip, and I can understand why. I was not offered a receipt. Although the food was fine, I wouldn't return.
If this is the level of service provided, the establishment should consider becoming a counter-service-only place.

Disappointing Food and Service
My experience at this restaurant was quite disappointing. The food did not taste authentic to Japanese cuisine and seemed to be prepared with unhealthy seasonings. Considering the pricing, the dishes were surprisingly simple.
The service was almost nonexistent; I had to ask for utensils twice, and they were still not provided. Overall, the food quality and service were far below expectations.
