Consistently Delicious and Friendly Spot
I've been a loyal customer since this restaurant opened, and I find myself dining here once or twice a week. I even bring friends and family when they visit. I've experienced both lunch and dinner services.
During lunch, I particularly love the yakitori bento. My husband and I also make it a point to dine here for dinner. The staff is consistently friendly, and the hostess with the beautiful silver lavender hair always offers a warm greeting.
The food is always served promptly and is incredibly yummy. I often have to resist the urge to eat here even more frequently, lol.

Disappointing Izakaya Experience
My wife and I visited this restaurant on a Sunday night, hoping for a good sit-down meal. While the food wasn't the absolute worst, it was certainly nothing to rave about, and we've had much better izakaya experiences elsewhere. It's amusing how they highlight their history, suggesting authentic traditional Japanese food, but it's clear the establishment has been Americanized.
The attempt at double-sided chopsticks felt like a gimmick, and they even served my pineapple sake without a proper sake glass, which is essential for the experience. A significant letdown was their inability to cook rice properly; it was mushy, indicating too much water, which is quite pathetic for an Asian restaurant. If you're seeking genuine Japanese or izakaya-style food, this is not the place.
I'd only recommend it if you're extremely desperate or have low standards. Those giving high ratings likely haven't experienced truly good Japanese cuisine. The worst part, however, was that they don't even validate parking.
I absolutely would not recommend this place.

Excellent Yakitori Lunch Experience
I highly recommend this Yakitori place for lunch. The service was great, and the food was both affordable and of high quality. As a Japanese person, I found the food to be quite decent, comparable to what you'd find in Japan.
I particularly enjoyed their Unagi and the Yakitori set lunch.

Great Yakitori, Pricey but Quality
My experience at the restaurant featured great yakitori and pork belly. The servers were really attentive, which was a positive aspect of the service. However, the overall experience was somewhat marred by having to endure the lunch with an unpleasant boss.
The prices were a little high, but the quality of the food was good.

Refined Japanese in a Mall Setting
My experience at this restaurant, located in a shopping mall, was quite positive. The food was very good, described as quite refined and elaborate Japanese cuisine. The service was excellent, rated a perfect 5, and the atmosphere was also good, rated a 4.
The meal type was breakfast.

Good Lunch Value, Lacking Yakitori Flair
I was very happy with the lunch menu, especially considering the price point. It's a rarity to find paitan, so I was pleased to have it for the first time in years. The service was exactly what I'd expect in Tokyo during lunch: fast, concise, and attentive.
Given the small space, they need to be vigilant about tables lingering. Unfortunately, none of the skewers stood out; city regulations limit cooking to gas/electric, so don't expect any smokiness. San Francisco has a surprising lack of yakitori, making this place a notable option, though the skewers themselves could be improved.

Excellent Yakitori, Don't Miss Other Skewers!
My experience at this restaurant was highly positive, especially for yakitori lovers. I found it to be a great spot for yakitori and would also highly recommend the eel + salmon skewers if you're looking for options beyond chicken. Regarding the SF mandate charge, which some negative reviews mention, I found it understandable as most restaurants in SF have this.
Overall, I highly recommend this place if you're craving yakitori!

Yummy Skewers, Japan Level Taste
My experience at this restaurant was quite enjoyable. The BBQ and Char were definitely present and tasted delicious. While the meat portion could be more generous and uniform for the price, the overall taste was still very yummy.
It's not quite at the level of taste and value found in Japan, but it's worth a visit, especially with the variety of skewer choices available. 👍

Great Japanese Meat Experience
Having dined at numerous Japanese restaurants across the USA and in Japan, I found this place to be pretty great! I particularly enjoyed the limited meat-centric menu and the super quality of the food, all offered at very reasonable prices. It provides a super fun and cultural foodie experience, especially for meat lovers and BBQ enthusiasts.
However, it's not a good place for vegans or vegetarians as their menu options are almost non-existent. The restaurant also boasts an enjoyable beer and sake selection.

Cute Spot, Worth a Try
This is a cute spot with a nice ambiance and overall vibe. The small bites were great and delicious. However, it is a bit pricy for the amount of food you get compared to other places in Japantown.
While it's not the best bang for your buck, I would still suggest a try if you are in the area. The set menu for $30 offers a nice variety, making it a no-brainer option to try the restaurant.
