Excellent Food and Service!
My experience at this restaurant was fantastic. The food was great, and the service was equally impressive. The servers were friendly and welcoming.
I'm looking forward to future visits here, especially for sushi night.

Great Sake Bar, Food Needs Improvement
This is a cute little sake bar tucked away in the neighborhood. The patio is dog friendly and even has heaters, which is a nice touch. The service is great, and the sake selection is expansive.
I'm only knocking off a star because of the food. It's quite pricey; $15 for vegetable tempura felt a little ridiculous, and the spicy scallop roll was bland.

Expensive with Small Portions and Slow Service
My experience at this restaurant was very disappointing. The food was very expensive, and the portions were disappointingly small. For example, the special was $15.
00 for only 4 pieces of mackerel, which was very little. We ordered two rolls, and the first one arrived with our special plate. However, the second roll took more than 20 minutes to arrive after we had already finished eating.
Overall, it was a very poor experience.

Disappointing Sushi Experience
My experience at this restaurant was disappointing. The service was fine, but I felt a little rushed. Unfortunately, the sushi was bland and not properly made.
It was some of the worst sushi I've had in San Diego, and I would recommend spending your money elsewhere.

Pricey Meal, Lacking Wow Factor
My experience at this restaurant was disappointing, especially considering the pricey meal for the portion sizes. I had high hopes for the food, but ultimately, nothing had a wow factor. On the positive side, the service was good and parking is easy as they have a lot.
The indoor seating area is small, with most tables located outside.

Tanuki: A Favorite San Diego Spot
My experience at Tanuki has been consistently wonderful from start to finish. Every dish I've tried has been delicious, showcasing the evident care that goes into each preparation. The staff is always warm, welcoming, and attentive, significantly enhancing the overall dining experience.
While parking can be a bit tricky, the experience is absolutely worth the effort. I highly recommend Tanuki!

Worst Sushi Experience in San Diego
My experience at this restaurant was very disappointing. The fish was not terrible, but it was the worst I’ve had in San Diego. I was charged for rice, with an up charge for sushi rice, and also charged for salad.
Overall, it was a very poor value. The presentation was the worst I’ve seen at a sushi restaurant, and it was probably the worst meal I’ve ever had at a Japanese restaurant. I would avoid this place.

Disappointing Experience, Overpriced
My experience at this restaurant was fair at best. Everything is a la carte, and for sashimi, we were given a pile of thick pieces on a plate with no presentation at all. They charged us $10 for two tiny bowls of sushi rice and also charged for salad.
There was no miso soup. We were given only one set of ginger and wasabi for two people. The fish was just okay, with a mealy taste and texture that was not good.
We spent $80 and left hungry. I would not go back.

Service Shines, Food Disappoints
My experience at this restaurant was a mixed bag. The service was excellent; the staff were attentive and great. Food arrived fast.
However, the food itself was just 'meh'. I was also expecting a larger portion for the crème brûlée.

Incredible Food, Amazing Service, Huge Sake Selection!
My experience at this restaurant was truly incredible. The food was outstanding, the service was amazing, and I was particularly impressed by their Sake selection, which is one of the largest I've encountered at a local establishment.
