Rich Broth, Great Service, Clean Ambiance
My experience at this restaurant was excellent. The environment was sparkling clean and the service was great. I actually prefer the flavor here over YGF; the broth is richer and smoother, but it doesn't leave you feeling heavy afterward. Great job!

Sweet Staff, Great Broth Selection!
My experience at this restaurant was wonderful! The staff was absolutely the sweetest, and the atmosphere was great. We also loved their selection of broth choices. The service and food were rated a 5 out of 5, and the atmosphere was also a 5. Parking was free street parking with plenty of spaces, and the wait time was up to 10 minutes for our group of 2 people.

Unwelcoming Experience, Took My Business Elsewhere
I was in the neighborhood looking to try something new. Upon entering, I was immediately lost as to what to do, as it didn't resemble a traditional restaurant. It seemed like I needed to grab a bowl and make my own dish, but the employees there never greeted me or took the time to explain. When I approached an employee, I asked if they were open (it was early and no other patrons were present), and they gave a condescending response about how their open sign was lit. They then asked me if I was looking for a job. I let them know I was there to eat but was confused by their lack of hospitality. I decided to leave and go to Xian Noodle down the street instead, where I was warmly welcomed and enjoyed great food.

Refreshing Broth, Great Buffet Experience
My experience at this restaurant was like a buffet concept where I could choose my own veggies, protein, and noodles. I also got to select the soup base, and the pricing was charged by the pound. I wasn't sure what to expect, but the broth was incredibly refreshing! This is the perfect place to get away during the winter and warm up with delicious soup. Overall, I was very happy with this place!

Delicious Malatang, Worth the Trip!
As someone who can’t cook much, this malatang really healed me on a cold, rainy day. The price was something I was willing to tank, as opposed to starving because I can’t cook while I’m at UW. I wanted to try something different from Y*F and this new spot appeared on Google Maps. I would say it was worth trying! If you’re on UW campus, you can take the 45 bus up to 50th street, and walk down the block. It’s right there! As someone who loves seafood and specific Asian meat cuts that not many know of (intestines, squid, clams, etc.), I got to try a good variety of food and even enjoy Haagen-Dazs ice cream after. It felt so special! I would say the only thing I found lacking was the sauce bar. Their peanut sauce isn’t as rich as other places I’ve had. The malatang was so good! I got the miso broth. The lady at the counter spoke English and was able to help me understand which broths were not spicy. I love that they include bilingual signage everywhere. The raw meats & vegetable options are pretty good! And I liked that they labeled every ingredient properly! I tried carrot instant noodles for the first time. The wait for my food wasn’t very long since I was one of the only guests. I was able to take a to-go container and plastic bags at no additional cost, and I reused the broth the next day to cook seafood at home. My stomach didn’t hurt at all after eating here and also reusing my broth. I would really recommend trying this place! The interior is beautiful and very spacious. I came in at a slow hour and for me that was very comfortable since I prefer being alone and watching TV shows on my phone. I hope they can attract more hungry college students 🫶

Quality over Quantity at FY Malatang
My experience at FY Malatang was focused on quality, contrasting with YGF Malatang's emphasis on quantity. While this place doesn't offer free fruits and has a lesser sauce selection, the broth is premium, SUPER rich, and flavorful. They also provide Haagen-Dazs ice cream 😭. At $15. 99/lb, I personally prefer this establishment over YGF.

Good Malatang with Some Soup Base Quirks
After finishing dessert at Jie bakery nearby, we came here for dinner. Although the place isn't large, it has all the classic malatang ingredients. I recommend their fried tofu skin rolls and youtiao (fried dough sticks) because they are not too hot and retain their original crispiness. The vegetables are also cooked to just the right amount of time. This is a definite plus! However, the soup base is a matter of personal preference. My partner's beef bone broth tasted okay, quite rich and mellow. I ordered the tomato soup base, which was delicious while eating, with a super rich tomato flavor. But after finishing, my mouth felt very dry, like it was full of 'high-tech' ingredients. Overall, it's decent, especially since the ingredients looked quite fresh and the food was served quickly.

Best Broth, Limited Options
My experience at this restaurant was primarily defined by its excellent bone broth. It's so good, it might be my new favorite. I also appreciated the generous amount of soup they provide, which is more than at other places. The sauce bar had all the basics. On the downside, the menu is limited, which is my only complaint. I wish they had more items to choose from. When I visited between lunch and dinner, the meats were brought out from the freezer, presumably to maintain freshness. The many handwritten notes suggest a mom and pop, no-frills operation. The parking situation is average, with free 2-hour street parking available. Overall, the broth quality and portion size are the standout features and the main draw to this establishment.
