Delicious Sushi, Mild Wasabi
My experience at this quaint little sushi restaurant was overwhelmingly positive. The staff were super friendly, and the food was really good. Although I was initially worried about trying raw seafood for the first time, I was greatly surprised and found it to be delicious. My only minor critique is that the Wasabi was too mild.

Amami: Unbeatable Omakase Experience
My experience at Amami was exceptional. I found their Omakase to be unbeatable, especially considering the price of $42. The food was rated a perfect 5, and the service and atmosphere also received top marks of 5. It's a fantastic sushi restaurant in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Great Value Omakase Daily Specials
My experience at this restaurant was great. It's a decent sushi place in the Excelsior with some great daily specials. You can't beat the $42 omakase.

Mind-Blowing Omakase on Mission Street
My experience at this restaurant was an absolute delight! I visited based on a co-worker's recommendation, expecting ordinary sushi, but I was incredibly wrong. This place is mind-blowing. The omakase was the best I've ever had outside of Japan, featuring incredibly fresh ingredients. The service was also fun and friendly. I make it a point to stop here every time I'm in San Francisco, as the trip wouldn't be complete without it.

Great Food, Limited Vegan Options
My one complaint is the lack of vegan / vegetarian options on the lunch special bento box menu. The lunch special bento box is exclusively for fish, beef, pork, and chicken. I inquired about substituting agedashi tofu as the protein for my bento box and was informed they would need to consult with the boss. In the interim, I had to order from the all-day menu. I opted for the sweet potato tempura roll, which had a delicately crispy, pillowy soft bite to it – a lovely contrast. I also enjoyed the wakame su, a cucumber and seaweed salad that was light and refreshing on this hot day! The next time I dine at Amami Sushi Bistro, I sincerely hope to see a vegan or vegetarian option added to the LSBB. Fingers crossed!

Beware of Vegetarian Roll Ingredients
I had a concerning experience at this restaurant. I ordered the Sweet Heart roll, which was listed under vegetarian options and described as containing "assorted fried veg. " However, it surprisingly contained fried fish. While I personally do not have allergies or dietary restrictions, I strongly advise anyone who does to double-check with the staff about the ingredients of their order. The service, atmosphere, and food were rated 4 out of 4, but this ingredient mix-up is a significant concern for those with dietary needs.

Disappointing Deluxe Sashimi
I ordered the Omakase, which was good for $42. However, my husband was still hungry and wanted more than 10 pieces, so he ordered the Deluxe “chef choice” sashimi for $64. To our surprise, the deluxe version was mostly cheap, common yellowtail and abalone tuna, with the other half being regular salmon and only two pieces of thinly slivered salmon belly. There was no variety at all! If you don't want to offer better fish for the deluxe sashimi, then charge more to add them. Don't use the word "deluxe" when you're just serving a boatload of mediocre meat with no variety. It seems like "chef's choice" to them is to get rid of whatever cheap fish they have for the day! 😂

Disappointing Service and Extra Charges
My experience started off fantastically, but took a turn when they decided to add an extra $20 tip onto my card for takeout. The regular staff was off, and the new hires aren't good. The food was good (rated 4/5), but the service was poor (rated 2/5), and the atmosphere was just okay (rated 3/5).

Great Value Sushi with Fresh Wasabi
My experience at this restaurant was largely positive, particularly concerning the value and quality of the food. The lunch specials are great values, and I especially enjoyed the chirashi bowl. It's refreshing to find a sushi place that serves fresh wasabi instead of paste. The only minor point to mention is that the tea is served extremely hot, almost too hot for most to handle comfortably. Overall, the food and value were excellent.

Terrible Udon and Sashimi Experience
My experience at this restaurant was extremely disappointing. I had the worst udon I've ever encountered, to the point where I felt I should have just made a pack of ramen at home. The edamame was under cooked, and the sashimi was simply awful. The California roll was completely flavorless, as if it had been rinsed in water and left to dry. Overall, the food quality was very poor.
