Beautiful Atmosphere, Mediocre Food
My experience at this restaurant was marked by its beautiful restaurant and classic atmosphere, which I rated a 5 out of 5. The service was good, also receiving a 5-star rating. However, the food, rated a 3 out of 5, was not impressive enough to justify the price and small portions.
While I wouldn't return for the food, I would come back for the atmosphere.

Delicious Classic French Food
My experience at this restaurant was largely positive, with delicious, classic French food. The pacing of the meal was excellent, allowing ample time for cocktails, appetizers, and then main courses. While the overall service was great, there was one waiter who was an exception.
The atmosphere was also a highlight, rated at a 5.

Exceptional French Onion Soup and Ambiance
My experience at this restaurant was wonderful! I highly recommend trying the French onion soup; it was the best I've ever had. The ambiance and service were also fantastic.
They offer the flexibility of calling ahead to put your name on the list, and they also accept reservations.

Exceptional French Dining Experience
My dinner at Le Central was a traditional, slow-paced French meal that lasted almost two hours. For my appetizer, I had the smoked salmon petit tartine, which I rated a 7 out of 10. The Stephane Magnien Pinot wine was an excellent pairing, earning an 8 out of 10.
My main course, the pan-roasted Atlantic salmon with pommes purée, braised fennel, and citrus beurre blanc, was an easy 8 out of 10. The duck confit with risotto and broccolini was an absolute standout, a perfect 10 out of 10! For dessert, both the Creme Brulee and chocolate mousse were good, scoring a 7 out of 10.
While they didn't 'knock our socks off, ' they were a satisfying end to the meal. My dining companion, a former food magazine editor with extensive experience eating in France, declared the dinner equal to anything she's had in Europe. This restaurant will definitely be added to my regular rotation for future San Francisco trips.

Excellent Food, Drinks, and Service!
My experience at the restaurant was fantastic! We thoroughly enjoyed the happy hour deviled eggs, and our dinners were equally impressive, especially the sole with capers, green beans and potatoes. The salads were amazing, and the service was incredibly friendly.
Overall, a great dining experience.

Disappointing Food Experience
My experience at the restaurant was quite disappointing, primarily due to the food. I found every dish to be mediocre and lacking in flavor. The Beef Tartare was dry and tasteless, not seasoned, and served with a whole quail egg instead of just the yolk.
The Escargot also suffered from a lack of seasoning and taste. The Beef Bourgogne was tough and chewy, with huge pieces of meat that were difficult to eat and, again, tasteless. Overall, it was an upsetting experience.

Cozy French Gem with Amazing Food
My experience at this cozy French restaurant, located just off a busy thoroughfare, was incredibly positive. The relaxed vibes and amazing staff created a welcoming atmosphere. I consistently meet new "regulars" at the bar, and we all agree that you can’t go wrong with ANY dish.
I particularly enjoyed the onion soup, which is a no-brainer, and the asparagus soup was also delicious. The entrees were all cooked to perfection. For those wanting to sample a variety, the happy hour is a great option to explore the different appetizers – again, any selection is a safe bet!
The vibe is great for any occasion, whether it's with friends, a date, a business lunch, or even dining solo. It's definitely worth a visit!

Authentic French Comfort Food Elevated
My experience at Le Central was incredible from start to finish. I savored the French onion soup, which was rich and perfectly cheesy, and the cassoulet, a hearty dish full of depth that truly elevated classic comfort food. For dessert, the chocolate mousse was a delightful end to the meal – light, silky, and absolutely delicious.
The cozy, Parisian atmosphere and attentive service made the entire evening feel special. If you're seeking authentic French cuisine in a warm setting, this place is a must-visit.

Amazing Burger and Friendly Bar Service!
My experience at this restaurant was fantastic, largely thanks to a recommendation from a lifelong San Franciscan friend. I ordered the burger and added caramelized onions and blue cheese, and it was amazing! We chose to sit at the bar, where we received friendly and attentive service.
I'm really excited to return and have the same burger again, perhaps with a glass or two of red wine.

A Wonderful Reminder of San Francisco's Best
My recent lunch at Le Central with my 97-year-old mother was a wonderful experience. She's been a regular for decades, and it was my first visit in years. The quality of food, the excellent wine list, and the professional service all contributed to a memorable meal.
We both enjoyed superb fish dishes. To finish, the coffee and chocolate mousse were delicious. Having lived in the Sierra foothills for 20 years and traveled extensively in Europe, I was reminded of the extraordinary restaurants San Francisco has to offer.
Thank you, Le Central, for this delightful reminder of the city's culinary excellence!
