Exquisite Food and Atmosphere
My experience at this restaurant was truly exquisite. The presentation of the food was beautiful, and it was freshly prepared with such care. It has become one of our favorite places in town. The service and atmosphere were both rated a 5 out of 5, and the food also received a perfect score.

Exceptional Omakase and Sake Pairing
We had a lovely anniversary dinner here. The omakase was very well constructed with a balance of hot and cold dishes that complemented each other really well. The sushi was clearly meticulously made and each dish was a delight to enjoy. Highly recommend the omakase and hot sake pairing!

Best Omakase in San Francisco!
My experience at this restaurant was truly wonderful. The meal was well-paced and well-executed, complemented by nice service and tasty food. It was definitely the best omakase we've had in San Francisco this past year. The pacing was perfect for our 2-hour meal, and I really loved how the sushi was served two pieces at a time. The staff were attentive, noticing my wife wasn't eating all the rice and adjusted the amount for subsequent pieces. I would strongly recommend this place!

Best Sushi Omakase Experience Ever!
My experience at this restaurant was the best sushi Omakase I've ever had. It was truly worth every decision that led me to that seat, enjoying the freshest and meatiest pieces, all prepared perfectly. This experience will linger with me until I return in a year; I can only tell time by this anchor. It's only been 3 days since I had the best sushi of my life! The chef was super friendly and even shared his knife collection. I recommend coming hungry, as the full course takes approximately 2 hours.

An Anniversary to Remember at Wako!
My partner and I celebrated our 7-year anniversary at Wako and had an incredible experience. Every bite we had was perfectly balanced and considered in the context of the meal. Everything was delicious, but Chef Jin’s enthusiasm for the seasonal pike mackerel made me love it the most! Such obvious and deep respect for the food from everyone on staff, and the relaxed and cheerful vibe made it even better. We loved the staff, and Chefs Jin and Ivan took care of us from the moment we stepped in the door – service was a true highlight. Friendly, funny, warm, and unpretentious, and everything you eat is explained super clearly and accessibly. Wako was the best meal I’ve had in several years, and we couldn’t have been happier to support a business run by such lovely people. Worth every penny. We’ll definitely be back!

Great Omakase, Service Lacks Polish
My experience at this restaurant was centered around a fantastic omakase. I truly appreciated that the chef was willing to share how he flavored each cut, making it a fun and interactive experience where I could chat with him directly. However, there were a few misses on the service front. We were seated in a tight corner despite a more spacious area remaining empty throughout our visit, which seemed odd. Additionally, the restaurant's practice of not immediately removing the Resy deposit from the bill felt less standard and created an unusual situation, requiring me to follow up the day after our visit to ensure it was refunded.

Amazing Fresh Sushi & Great Staff!
My lunch takeout experience was amazing! The sushi tasted so fresh and high quality. The staff were also very nice. I hope they expand their operating days beyond just Thursday-Sunday. I can't wait to try the omakase.

Mixed Feelings: Finance Crowd, Okay Food
My experience at the restaurant was a bit mixed. It seems to be a popular spot for finance professionals, but the food quality wasn't as good as I'd heard it used to be. However, the Baja jalapeño zuke was a definite winner and a highlight of the meal. The service and atmosphere were average, both receiving a 3 out of 5.

Exceptional Sushi Experience with Thoughtful Touches
We had such a wonderful time! The atmosphere was very friendly, and the chef was incredibly outgoing and engaging. He gave vivid, detailed explanations of each piece of sushi — including which part of the fish it came from and how it was prepared — which made the experience feel extra special and educational. One unique touch was the in-house special drink designed to transition between the appetizer and the sushi course — such a thoughtful detail! Since it was our birthday, the restaurant even surprised us with a hand-drawn birthday card. Super cute and such a lovely gesture! Constructive feedback: 1. It would be great if the reservation time could be extended to 2. 5 hours. Things felt a little rushed toward the end. 2. It would also be nice to have a choice between water and hot tea as a default beverage option. Overall, a fantastic experience — we’d definitely come back!

Disappointing Omakase Experience at Wako
My most recent visit to Wako was a significant letdown compared to my previous excellent experience. Many of the dishes were merely okay, and some lacked freshness. For a Michelin-starred omakase at this price point, I was surprised that the tuna was from Baja instead of Japan, which was unexpected. Ultimately, nothing stood out enough for me to want to return. Given the abundance of outstanding omakase options in the city, this one was disappointing, and I would not return.
