Consistently Excellent Sushi and More
My experience at Village Sushi has been consistently excellent over the years. The sushi and sashimi are of very high quality, truly ranking in the top 3 in the city. Beyond the sushi, the side dishes are terrific.
The tempura is perfectly crisp, light, and never greasy. The scallop appetizer is described as 'a bit of heaven' and it's recommended to order rice to enjoy the leftover sauce. The agedashi tofu is the reviewer's standard for testing new places and is considered the best.
All of this is offered at remarkably reasonable prices. The restaurant itself is in a modest spot, with Joe always playing jazz, dimmed lights, and surrounded by his paintings, offering a unique glimpse into his life. It's a bit different from a typical Japanese restaurant, but that doesn't detract from the food quality.

Phenomenal Sushi Experience!
My experience at this restaurant was absolutely phenomenal. I visited on a random evening with my girlfriend, searching for a sushi place on the avenue, and I was deeply impressed. The service was amazing, and the atmosphere was warm and relaxing.
Their salmon teriyaki is quite frankly the best salmon I’ve had in my life. I now go here at least once a week. It's a bit expensive, but that’s to be expected at a sushi restaurant.
The chef is incredibly kind and talented as well.

Best Tonkatsu Ever!
In September 2025, I had the best tonkatsu I've ever tasted in my life. The rainbow roll and California roll were also really good. I'm looking forward to trying the sashimi next time.

Fabulous Sushi Experience at Village Sushi
My experience at Village Sushi was truly wonderful. The service was attentive, and the setting was chill with vinyl jazz playing. The sushi was astoundingly fresh and lovingly prepared, all at a reasonable price.
I particularly enjoyed the toro, salmon, and tamago. I washed it all down with a generous glass of Kikkoman plumb wine. It was an A+ experience!

Great Sushi, But No Tea!
My experience at this sushi place was largely positive, with fresh and delicious sushi. The food quality was excellent. However, I was quite surprised that they do not serve tea, which is a common offering at most sushi restaurants.
This was an unexpected omission.
