I used to go to this restaurant when they were located on Lombard, back when my brother worked at the Presidio. We would enjoy our subs at Chrissy Field, sitting on a park bench. Even now that he lives in Maryland, he still asks if I still visit. Since I moved to the Valley, I've often dreamed about the best beef teriyaki sandwich I've ever had.

My experience at this unassuming little shop was a delightful surprise! I was looking for a quick grab-and-go lunch and found incredibly high-quality bahn mi sandwiches. The pork was excellent, and the pickled veggies and bread were also great. The staff was super friendly, making the overall experience even better. It truly rivals some of the best sandwich places I've tried, and I definitely consider it a neighborhood gem.

This place has new owners since March 2023 and is a cheap place to eat. It was my first time here, and I ordered the beef sandwich. Initially, it was okay, but saving the rest for my lunch break a couple of hours later proved to be a mistake as it did not hold up. You could tell the meat isn't fresh. The sandwich was made very quickly, suggesting it's cooked in large batches, but the taste was not good. The texture was also very chewy, with some unpleasant tendon pieces that I had to spit out. While I haven't tried their other sandwiches, I do not recommend the beef. The bread was just okay, nothing special. I'm unsure if I'll give this place a second try.

You might be confused by the name, as I was. They don't sell submarines that can go in water; they sell sandwiches and food. To get over the initial sadness of not being able to purchase a submarine to explore the ocean, I ate a lot of their food. Man, is it good. And affordable! It's a great place to stop for lunch, as it's right across from the BART station. The owners are friendly. The spring rolls are my favorite.
