A Hidden Gem for Pasta Lovers
Shsss, don't tell anyone. This place has the best pasta dishes ever. Locals know, that's how we found it.
The Veal & Scampi Picatta was a standout. We visited with a group of 3-4 people and experienced excellent service with a perfect score of 5. The atmosphere was also rated a 5, and the food received a perfect 5.
The price per person was between $50–100.

Amazing Italian with Great Staff!
My experience at this restaurant was truly wonderful. It's a great intimate & local Italian restaurant. The food was amazing and the portions were generous enough to share.
I ordered a bottle of wine, a wedge salad, meatballs, and ravioli Salvatore to share with my companion. *chefs kiss* The waiter was amazing, and all the staff were equally impressive.

Excellent Italian, Beautiful Birthday Celebration
This was my second visit to Trattoria Contadina, and my experience was again characterized by great service and excellent food. If you're craving Italian in the city, I highly recommend this restaurant. They made my mom's birthday celebration very beautiful, even providing a complimentary dessert for her!

Generous Portions and Cozy Atmosphere
I had a great experience at this cozy Italian restaurant. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with a charmingly rustic feel, complete with a well-stocked bar and string lights that give it a homey, comfortable vibe. The service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing, and our waiter was helpful with the menu.
The real standout of the meal, and something you can tell from the photos, is the sheer size of the portions. They don't mess around! I ordered a pasta dish topped with a generous amount of fresh basil and what looked like burrata or a similar creamy cheese.
My friend's spaghetti with a huge, impressive-looking meatball was also massive, and the clams in white wine sauce were abundant and delicious. You definitely get your money's worth here, and you'll likely have leftovers. For dessert, we had a simple but delicious bowl of vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup.
It was the perfect way to cap off a very filling meal. I highly recommend giving this place a try.

Authentic Italian Pasta in San Francisco
Considering that the restaurant is in San Francisco and I'm usually hesitant to eat Italian food outside of Italy, the pasta was well-cooked and the ragù was flavorful. The meatballs in sauce had a good taste and the sauce was well-reduced.

Good Service, Disappointing Food
My experience at the restaurant was a mixed bag. The service was good, and the atmosphere was as expected, both receiving a 4-star rating. However, the food was overall disappointing, scoring a 3-star rating.
While the location was okay and within walking distance to busier streets, the culinary aspect left much to be desired. It's possible it was my choice of dish, but the food experience was not up to par.

Exceptional Italian Cuisine and Service
My experience at Trattoria Contadina was truly exceptional, a testament to the legacy of Nonna's cooking while also being deeply fresh and relevant. The host, Vince, was peak – warm, friendly, comfortably formal, knowledgeable, and seamlessly assisted his coworkers and the restaurant floor. Esteban, the bartender, had a commanding presence that fostered deep ease while dining; he was confident, proficient, and worked diligently to ensure guests had the best time.
Federico, a server, lent the best of his experiences, being unimposing, eager to make adjustments, and deeply knowledgeable without being boastful. I had the best Caprese I've ever tasted, a moment of savoring flavors akin to a cheese/strawberry 'ratatouille. ' The Aperol spritz also had the best ratios I've ever encountered.
I truly enjoyed the Pesce Piccata for its lovely acidity, balanced by the Beurre Blanc-like sauce and salty capers. The spumoni dessert was ridiculously good. All the salads were deeply solid and flavorful.
The Mama Fratelli, with additions of freshly grated cheese, black pepper, salt, and red pepper flakes, was simply the best Italian dish I've ever had. The chefs accomplished the feat of making food as dynamic as Thai or high-end Korean cuisine. Shoutout to the unnamed staff who made my dining experiences sleek, comfortable, and awesome.
I deeply appreciate their talents contributing to such a world-class spot.
