Owner's Behavior Was Disappointing
My experience at this restaurant was disappointing due to the owner's behavior. A great friend, who worked here for 18 years, invited me and met the owner, Yeni. My friend asked if Yeni could join us at our table, and Yeni initially agreed, saying she would be there shortly.
However, she never arrived. I observed that the owner seemed despotic, seating customers without a smile. Personally, I will not return because the owner appeared to view everyone with inferiority.

Family Feel with Delicious Food and Great Service!
My experience at Tia Margarita was wonderful! The food was consistently delicious, and the staff were great. I especially want to thank Luis for his great service – he was sooo efficient, friendly, and very professional.
Fernando was always so accommodating, even with a short notice reservation. Pedro and Mario made the best margarita. Ana, Omar, and Antonio were part of a great team, always gracious with warm smiles.
Going to Tia Margarita is like visiting family : } Love this place!

Tia Margarita: Food and Service Shine
My experience at Tia Margarita was overwhelmingly positive. The food has significantly improved, evolving from good to GREAT over the years. The service is consistently great, with professional and personable staff who represent the restaurant with grace and warmth.
I particularly enjoyed the service from Luis, a wonderful server, and Jennifer, a wonderful host. The margaritas always hit the mark. I truly enjoy and look forward to visiting this treasured spot.

Tia's: Our Favorite Regular Spot in SF
Over the past few years, Tia's has become our favorite regular spot in SF. The staff knows us (and our very vocal dog Freddie Mercury…) and takes such good care of us. There is literally no other establishment here where we feel as welcome.
The food is fantastic, the atmosphere warm and fun, and everyone we take here just loves it. Can’t wait to continue visiting for years to come.

Nostalgic Visit Turns Disappointing
This used to be our all-time favorite Mexican restaurant since high school. We loved the atmosphere – its vibrancy, décor, and friendly staff. Returning last night for a nostalgic feeling, the décor and vibrancy remained, and the staff's friendliness was still the same.
However, you still need a flashlight to read the menu, a challenge we used to overcome with table candles. The chips were excessively salty, tasting as if an entire container of salt was used. Despite requesting non-salty chips, we were told that was all they had.
It's a shame, as the dip was well-seasoned and balanced. Unfortunately, the food quality has declined significantly, lacking its former 'oomph. ' Our entrees were drowned in melted cheese, making it difficult to distinguish the dishes themselves, with only the salad remaining uncovered.
The cheese also dried up the sauces, turning them hard, salty, and tasteless. I could barely tell what I was eating, essentially just consuming cheese. The mango margarita was enjoyable and had an adequate amount of alcohol, though for the price, I expected a stronger flavor that would persist even as the ice melted.
The biggest surprise came with the bill. A $3. 00 surcharge per meat entree was added, resulting in an extra $15 for our five meat entrees.
Additionally, a $1 charge for my flavored margarita brought the total to $16 more than the menu prices. The waiter claimed he forgot to mention these surcharges, which were nowhere listed on the menu. This lack of transparency and the unexpected charges felt deceptive and fraudulent, leading to my one-star rating.
This establishment should be reported for such practices.

Tia Margarita: A Neighborhood Gem
My experience at Tia Margarita was like receiving a warm hug. It's one of my favorite spots in the neighborhood. The staff is always super friendly, the food is good and comforting, and the drinks are great (and strong).
My go-to items are the guacamole, enchiladas suizas w/ carne asada, and a mezcal margarita. I highly recommend asking for the spicy salsa. A helpful tip: they take reservations, so you don't have to wait!
