Okay Tacos, Great Late Night Spot
I visited this restaurant for a quick bite in the mid-afternoon. My experience with the tacos was just okay, but I can see this place being a perfect spot for a late night craving, especially after a few drinks. It's definitely not a top-notch dining experience, but it's also not the worst.
The prices were reasonable.

Best Tacos and Friendly Staff!
My experience at this restaurant was fantastic! I had the best tacos I have ever had, with the red taco being a particular standout. The staff were super friendly and provided great recommendations.
The atmosphere was also excellent, rated a 5 out of 5, and it was quiet enough to have an easy conversation.

Underwhelmed by El Tucan's Tacos
I really wanted to like El Tucan, having heard so much about their Tijuana-style tacos. Unfortunately, my experience didn't quite live up to the hype. I tried their most talked-about items: the quesabirria, an adobada taco, and a shrimp taco.
While they looked appealing, the flavors were disappointingly flat. The meat lacked the expected depth and char, and the tortillas were greasy with little chew or structure. Nothing was bad, but nothing truly impressed me.
The salsa bar was a nice addition, though it felt limited compared to other taquerias in the city. The staff was polite, but the service was slow; I waited about 20 minutes even though the restaurant wasn't crowded. The prices also seemed steep for the quality received.
I don't mind paying for good food, but this didn't feel like a good value. I left feeling full but ultimately underwhelmed.

My experience at this restaurant was fantastic! I absolutely loved their food, service, and atmosphere. I'm giving it a solid 5 stars for everything.
I would highly recommend their tacos, especially the veggie ones. Their salsa is also super delicious.

Best Mexican in the Castro
I have eaten here 20+ times. It is easily the best Mexican spot in the Castro and one of the better restaurants of any kind in the neighborhood. I personally like the adobada California burrito and the shrimp red taco.
I really can’t say enough good things about this place. It hits.

Excellent Burritos, Worth the Visit
I'm giving 5 stars because this is low-key one of the best burritos in SF right now. I'm partial to the adobada. If you order in, they'll bring the food to your table and have a nice little parklet outside.
I've been here 5+ times and the consistency is good. I have to try more on the menu, but everyone I've eavesdropped on has positive reactions to their orders. The Tortas, Red Birria Burrito, and Agua Frescas all stand out.
My only note is that when they get busy, things move a bit slower.

Authentic TJ Tacos with a Price Tag
This was the closest experience to authentic TJ tacos I've found in the area. I ordered the keto and regular asada tacos, and the meat was perfectly seasoned and not burnt. The agua fresca de piña was the star of the show – absolutely amazing and fresh, not too sweet.
While the price is steep, I paid $20 for three tacos and an agua (before tip), which is totally reasonable for the area, especially considering the prime Market St location and the generous meat portions. The outdoor seating area is clean and inviting, perfect for enjoying the sunshine with a pup.

Seriously Good Tacos & Burritos!
My husband and I have eaten tacos and burritos two nights in a row from Tacos El Tucan because it’s seriously that good. The homemade tortillas elevate the food to be some of, if not the best, Tacos & Burritos I’ve had since I moved here. The salsas and chips are also great too!

A Disrupted and Disgruntled Experience
My experience at the restaurant was a disrupted mess. It felt like a disgruntled mess because they don’t pay attention.

I finally got to try this place yesterday! I had a mulita and a red birria burrito. They were so delicious.
I’m so glad they are in the Castro!
