Creative Dim Sum with a Modern Twist
My experience at this restaurant was a fun and memorable dining adventure! I loved the creative dim sum–style service with a modern twist. From the cart, the trout dip and duck lover mousse were both excellent — rich, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The CA State Bird with Provisions from the à la carte menu totally lived up to the hype — crispy, juicy, and unique. However, the pork milanesa was a bit underwhelming compared to everything else. Overall, it's a dining experience worth trying!

Interesting Concept, Mixed Food Experience
My experience at this restaurant was a mix of positive and negative. The service was great, and the atmosphere was nice, though it was a bit loud. However, the food was just okay. Some of the dishes didn't make sense, with some tasting bad or being too salty. While the attempt to implement dim sum style carts was interesting, I don't think it worked. Usually, dim sum is fresh and hot from the steamer, but this felt more like tapas on carts.

Underwhelming Anniversary Dinner
My experience at this restaurant was underwhelming and confusing. I regret choosing it to celebrate our anniversary. The food was cold and tasteless; we tried about twelve different dishes, and none were good. Our waitress was rude and walked away mid-conversation, leaving us hanging. The overall energy of the place felt off. I couldn't understand the many positive reviews until I noticed many didn't seem genuine, with some being one-sentence reviews that felt inauthentic. Something felt fishy. While it might have been great before, it's not anymore. I'd recommend The Anchovy Bar instead, which has the same owners and provided a beautiful, delicious experience.

Good vibes, decent food
My experience at the restaurant was marked by good vibes and friendly service. The food was good, though not mind-blowing. We particularly enjoyed the rendang steak the most. The price per person was $100+.

Great food, consider small plates!
My experience at this restaurant was marked by great food. Next time, we might skip ordering from the menu and just eat the small plates they bring in carts, like dim sum.

Interesting experience, but The Progress is better
My experience at this restaurant was interesting. While the initial server was present and friendly, they soon became MIA. We were then served by a server offering dishes in a dim sum style, and despite taking some items, we were still unsure about how to order. The food was tasty overall, but not as good as its sister restaurant, The Progress. If given a choice between the two, I would opt for The Progress.

Mixed Feelings: Great Service, Disappointing Food
My dining experience was lovely, but unfortunately, the food left much to be desired. I’m not in a rush to come back. If I do, I’d only order from the trays and make sure to get bubbly drinks. Although they do take walk-ins, I’d recommend making reservations. The restaurant has an interesting concept, though they no longer use dim sum carts and only had waiters going around with trays. The service was really great, and the ambience was also a highlight. I sat at the bar and really enjoyed watching everyone cooking together and preparing the dishes for the trays. I dined solo but felt well cared for and had a good time. The portion size was small, making it easy for sampling a variety of dishes. For items on the main menu, they allowed half portions (and even quarter portion for the pancakes), which was great for a solo diner. I absolutely loved the Chèvre ice cream sandwich! The state bird and liver mousse with financier were also quite good. However, the Horchata was a bit too sweet and not a good pairing with all the food; I should have opted for sparkling drinks to cleanse my palate. I also tried the oyster, duck dumpling, and trout chip n’ dip. They were just fine, and I’d probably skip them next time. The egg tofu was boring but served as a needed lighter dish to cut through the grease and heavy flavors of other dishes. The food was rather one-note, either overwhelmingly sour, too salty, or too greasy. While this might be acceptable for one or two dishes, it became boring and too heavy when all the dishes were like that. I’d prefer the food to be on the lighter, more delicate side. Options from both the main menu and trays were also mostly fried items. The fish stick was absolutely horrendous and super dry. The pancakes were underwhelming and I would not order them again.

Mixed Experience: Good Fish, Poor Service
My experience at this restaurant was a bit of a mixed bag. The food was okay, offering a wide variety that felt like a mix of Italian, Mexican, and Japanese cuisines. While some dishes, particularly the steak, felt overpriced and unremarkable, the fish dishes were a definite highlight – fresh and bursting with unique flavors. The vegetables were average for me, though my date enjoyed them. The atmosphere was typical of a busy restaurant, noisy and crowded, making conversation difficult. The drink selection was decent, but it was surprising that our waiter didn't know what ice wine was. Service was a significant letdown; the timing of check-ins was off, too much food was brought to our table, clearing was slow, and I had to ask twice for paper napkins, which only arrived at the end. If the prices were more reasonable, I might consider returning.

Great Bar, Mixed Dim Sum
I love sitting at the bar and often bring friends who are visiting from out of town. However, I didn’t love the dim sum options compared to my last visit.
