Good Food, Lacking Numbing Spice
My experience at this restaurant was a mixed bag. The atmosphere was lovely, with a great presentation of the dishes. The food itself was good, but it sadly lacked the signature numbing sensation of Sichuan peppercorns, relying only on chili oil.
I tried the cowchin (so) chicken, pig ears, and spicy cabbage, and none of them delivered that characteristic tingle. While the dishes were still enjoyable, they missed the mark on authentic Sichuan flavor. For a truly numbing taste, I'd recommend heading to 'Sichuan Tasty' on Clement.
On a less positive note, the avocado shake was disappointing, seeming to contain only about a quarter of an avocado and some ice. The service and atmosphere received a perfect score (5/5), but the food only a 2/5.

Authentic Sichuan Delight in SF
I stumbled upon an authentic Sichuan restaurant in San Francisco. The décor felt nostalgic yet clean and cozy. The moment the pot arrived, it filled the air with an incredible aroma!
I ordered their signature “Boiled Fish in Chili Broth” — it was perfectly spicy, fragrant, and flavorful. The heat was just right, and it truly warmed me up inside. The owner and staff were super friendly, giving me that comforting feeling of dining back home ❤️.

Delicious Food, Amazing Service!
My experience at this restaurant was fantastic! The food was delicious, and my favorite dish was the eggplant 😍. The service was amazing, and we were able to walk in and be seated with no problem at 7 pm on a Saturday.
The atmosphere was also great, rated 5/5.

Mixed Experience at Sichuan Home
We were looking for a Chinese restaurant for visitors from Canada who love Chinese food. Sichuan Home had good reviews, but it only opened at 5 pm, and we were hungry for lunch at 3 pm. After searching for other options with no luck, we decided to wait and try Sichuan Home.
The menu had a good selection, neatly categorized. We ordered four main dishes: Lamb, chicken in Sichuan pepper, spicy fish, and a vegetarian Dry mushroom. The food arrived incredibly fast, in less than 5 minutes, which made me suspect it was pre-prepared.
My mushroom pieces were too large and leathery; when I asked for a knife, they provided scissors 😳, which was an unusual experience. The spicy breaded chicken was similar to orange chicken but lacked salt. When we asked for salt, the waiter returned the dish overly salty, making it worse.
The spicy fish, presented on a cooktop, looked appealing, but the fish seemed frozen, which was disappointing given our location near the ocean. The only dish we all agreed was good, fresh, and tasty was the lamb. They also offered complimentary sweet rice pieces.
The service was very good, though I'm unsure if the waiter was also the cook. We were the only customers initially, with another couple arriving later and finishing before us. While the service was good, I don't believe this is the best Chinese restaurant in town, so I would try something else next time.

Great Food and Service for Groups
My experience at this restaurant was fantastic! The food was great, with a good variety of meat, veggie, and seafood options. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating for our large group.
We had a large vegetarian selection, and it was highly recommended for vegetarians. The atmosphere and service were both rated a perfect 5, and the food also received a 5. Parking was somewhat difficult to find, but the wait time was up to 10 minutes.

Disappointing Takeout Experience
I used to love Sichuan home, but my recent takeout experiences have been disappointing. While the staff are friendly, they consistently forgot about my takeout order and prioritized serving dine-in customers who arrived after me. On my latest visit, four tables that came after me received their food before mine.
I suggest calling ahead and allowing 30-40 minutes for your order. The food itself was also a letdown. I ordered the Dan Dan noodles and spicy wontons, which were the wateriest and most bland Sichuan dishes I've ever had.
They were swimming in the same broth, lacking any spice or complexity, which is not typical for Sichuan cuisine – there was no "Ma" or "La" in either. It seemed like the chef simply dumped the broth and sent the dishes out. Although I usually give places a few chances, I'm convinced this isn't for me.
While other dishes might be good during non-peak hours, I would not recommend getting takeout from them. On a positive note, the portion size and value/cost were great.

A Gem of Chinese Food in SF!
As someone from LA and of Chinese heritage, I've often found the quality, setting, and value of Chinese food in Northern California to be lacking. I was so happy to discover this little gem of a restaurant! It’s nicely decorated and clean, offering a pleasant atmosphere.
The dishes were interesting and tasty, particularly the chef’s special eggplant and the chef’s special stir fry with shredded taro, greens and pine nuts. We also enjoyed the fish and pickled vegetable soup and the duck. Everything was well-seasoned and balanced, providing what felt like clean, solid food.
The staff was lovely and welcoming. I would confidently say this is one of my favorite Chinese restaurants in SF!

Slow Service, Long Wait Times
My experience at the restaurant was marked by slow service. They seem to prepare orders only after the delivery driver arrives, leading to an additional wait of at least 30 minutes. This significantly impacted the overall dining experience.
