San Francisco Fever Dream Dining
My experience at this restaurant was a fever dream of the best parts of San Francisco. The new menu was absolutely to die for. I make it a point to bring all of my friends who are visiting the city here.

Disappointing Redesign and Food at Shuggie's
I previously loved Shuggie’s when it was a pizza place, but I’m not a big fan of the redesign. Frankly, the food just doesn’t taste very good, and it’s also fairly pricey (roughly $35/small entree, $20/appetizer). The atmosphere is still great, but vibes can’t save the food.
Also have to call them out for their suggested tip range of 20%-27%, which is absurd.

Small Portions, Just Okay Food
My experience at the restaurant involved receiving the check and noticing that one of the dishes on the menu had a price listed. The food itself was served in small portions and was just okay. The pricing on the menu was also a point of note.

Artful Food, Cozy Atmosphere
My experience at this restaurant was marked by artful and creative food, served in an atmosphere that truly sent a vibe. The low ceilings contributed to a wonderfully nice and cozy feeling. I would definitely come here again.

Cool Decor, But No More Pizza!
My experience at this restaurant was a mixed bag. The decor is really cool, and the staff were friendly. However, they've recently dropped pizza from the menu, which was a significant disappointment as it's now only available on Sundays.
They also made a mistake on my order and forgot notes about a birthday, which was a bit of a bummer. Additionally, the lemon waters for my child were surprisingly expensive at $12 each, totaling $36 for just three waters with a squirt of lemon juice.

Clueless reviewer, clutch atmosphere!
My experience at this restaurant was fantastic, especially the atmosphere, which was clutch! It's a must visit if you have friends in town. I believe the reviewer who gave it a 2-star rating was clueless.

Creative Decor, Disappointing Food Experience
My experience at this restaurant was a mixed bag. On the positive side, the drinks were great and the decor is phenomenal. The food presentation is creative, and the 'polenta' dish was tasty.
However, there were significant downsides. We expected pizza, but there was no pizza. We ordered a tuna dish and were served a literal rib cage that we had to scrape with a spoon; my partner couldn't eat it because it was too graphic.
The menu listings were vague and somewhat inaccurate, such as the 'polenta' dish that was actually grits. The music was so loud that we couldn't talk, and they played Drake 🤢. It felt a bit expensive to get food that wasn't what we wanted.

Delicious Food, Amazing Service!
My experience at the restaurant was fantastic! We had never tried their trash pies before, but we were glad to try out their new menu. The food was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented.
While the Tuna Crudo could have used a bit more meat, overall, the food and service were amazing.

Disappointing Reopening Experience
Oh god, I don't want to come off as a curmudgeon. I went last night after their apparent "re-opening"/revamping and was not impressed. I wanted to go for their pizza since their online menu still has the OLD menu, and there's a giant sign outside advertising pizza.
Lo and behold, they completely redid their menu. They had a disclaimer card explaining that they're re-opening and to be patient. Their menu is comprised of mostly seafood dishes, like a play on oysters Rockefeller and fish sticks.
The music was LOUD inside and the seating was cute, but cramped. Very style over substance. Also, it was hot as hell inside.
I don't know if they have no A/C, but the first room (yellow) was incredibly hot. We were seated in the back in the green-themed room and that was also very warm, but there was a door that was cracked open. My party ordered the Green Goddess, something "pillow, " and the fish sticks, along with a few drinks.
The drinks were OK. The salad was skewered? It was fine.
Felt gimmicky and honestly annoying to eat. The server was, for some reason, incredibly nervous and couldn't actually explain what he was serving and kept mentioning radishes, but there were no radishes? Honestly, because the music was so loud, I couldn't hear.
The next thing was something called a pillow, but essentially a focaccia-style bread with burrata, egg yolk, and a ton of shredded parmesan on top. The dough and bread itself was very good, but it was ICE cold. I understand the burrata is cold, but I've had similar types of dishes and the bread was served warm, and the burrata, dolloped on top, was old so it would've been a nice play.
But the entire dish was strangely ice cold, and there were some slightly-warmer parts of the bread where they may have reheated it, but it was bizarre. I just don't get why they would switch from pizza to a play on mid-century 50s/60s food when their dough was excellent. Finally, the fish sticks, which were mid.
I couldn't hear the server's explanation, but it came with some tartar panna cotta, which, again, felt gimmicky. Like, just give me a good fish stick. Also, there were 3 small sticks which were extremely salty.
We also waited a fair amount of time for the sticks, so the pacing was just off. There was a lot of waiting around. I could see people who were seated before us getting their food after us.
Servers were all good, so no complaint there. I think the menu isn't great, and for what they're charging and the area - you may as well go somewhere else. Pollo Campero is right there.
We were literally ordering pizza in the restaurant from Hi Hat because we left hungry and dissatisfied. I feel bad giving it such a negative review, but they really need to think about if their menu is up to par with the really brutal SF restaurant scene.

Funky Design, Delicious Food!
I had been wanting to visit this restaurant, and it definitely lived up to my expectations. The design was funky and cool, and the food was excellent. While the pizza was very good, it wasn't even the star of the meal.
They served these wild and delicious green beans, essentially in a tempura batter, which were so weird and tasty. I had a great time here!
