Ridiculously Good Food and Service
My experience at this restaurant was ridiculously good. The service was great, and the environment felt like a nightclub. I particularly enjoyed the Spicy Golden Gate and Jumping Salmon rolls, which were mouthfuls of flavor 😋. I also loved the cocktail I had, which I believe was called Samurai Sunset.

Great hole-in-the-wall with excellent food and service!
My experience at this restaurant was fantastic! It's a perfect hole in the basement type restaurant in San Francisco. The food was great, and the service was also excellent. I highly recommend it for a casual dining experience.

Authentic Izakaya Vibes with Top-Notch Sushi
I've read that Royko's was a hole-in-the-wall Japanese bar with great vibes and sushi. Missing izakaya vibes in Japan, I had to stop by, and I did not regret it. Because Ryoko's was just that. Small, cozy, dark, lively. Great food and drinks. The sushi was top notch. The beers were good. And I had a few other items on the menu like the Shoyu Ramen and Chicken Teriyaki. All pretty good. I loved Ryoko's. The vibe was definitely reminiscent of izakayas in Japan. Good service. I'd say come here for the vibes, the drinks, and the sushi! The sushi was more on the pricey side (around $12 - 15 for 2 nigiris). However, it was so good I couldn't stop ordering for more 😅.

Ryoko's: Underground SF Gem
My experience at Ryoko's was absolutely fantastic! It's a rare San Francisco spot that perfectly captures the city's spirit: a little underground, effortlessly cool, and utterly delicious. The moment you descend the steps into this buzzing, dimly lit sushi bar, you can feel the energy. There was late-night chatter, laughter, a killer playlist, and chefs working at lightning speed behind the counter. The food was utterly delicious, and the atmosphere was buzzing and effortlessly cool. The service was also top-notch, contributing to the overall energetic vibe.

Good Atmosphere, Forgettable Food
I visited Ryokos on a Thursday night with some friends. While the atmosphere was enjoyable overall, it did lose some of its usual vibe without the DJ, so I'll need to come back for that experience. The food was decent but ultimately forgettable.

A Long-Time Favorite Spot in SF
Ryoko's is one of my go-to spots in San Francisco, and I've been coming here for years. I love the ambiance and always have a good meal and a good time. The staff is very friendly and attentive. I'll see you the next time I'm in town!

Exceptional Sushi Experience
My experience at this restaurant was truly exceptional. Having lived in Japan for four years, I have a good understanding of authentic sushi, and this place ranks among the top two I've had in the US. The food was outstanding, the atmosphere was perfect, and the service was top-notch, all contributing to a fantastic dining experience.

Cool Vibe, Average Sushi
My experience at this restaurant was a mixed bag. The atmosphere and vibe were unique and cool, which was a definite plus. However, the sushi itself was pretty average. We tried a variety, and the only one we really enjoyed was the soy wrap. Even the special hot sake with lemon didn't stand out. On the positive side, the service was friendly and attentive. Overall, it wasn't bad, but it's definitely not a top sushi pick in SF.

Disappointing Sashimi and Missing Shrimp Head
My experience at the restaurant was disappointing this year. The sashimi portions were smaller than I expected, and I did not receive my fried shrimp head. For $110 spent on sashimi and two rolls, I felt the value was lacking compared to a better experience I had last year.

Confusing Decor, Okay Ramen
My experience at this restaurant was a bit confusing due to its eclectic decor. It featured dark wooden paneling alongside shiny blue cement walls, 70s mirrors, and an Irish-style bar. The tables and chairs seemed standard for a Chinese restaurant, while the ceiling fans had a British feel. I wasn't sure if it was aiming to be a dive Japanese bar. We visited late at night after a show, so our expectations weren't high. My shoyu ramen was only slightly better than instant packet ramen and definitely not worth the $19 price tag. However, the beers were good. I could see myself returning for a late-night drink. The people seemed friendly enough.
