Delicious Yucatecan Food & Excellent Service!
I want to give this restaurant a lot of credit because not only is the food delicious and very similar to the flavor of Yucatán, but the service was also excellent! More about my experience: we decided to celebrate a birthday and called the restaurant to make a reservation. That day they had a drag show, which is excellent, but since we brought children, they were very honest in recommending that we go before the show. The dinner was excellent, they always checked that we were okay, they let the children dance, and they even brought dessert for the birthday girl and played Happy Birthday. We are going to return! 😄

Amazing Fried Plantains!
I wanted a quick snack and only ordered the fried plantains, and wow, they were amazing! 🤩 They were tender and sweet, served with a yummy vinegar-based sauce and a salad on the side. I will definitely be coming back for more! Riquisimo! 🤌🏼

Authentic Food, Disappointing Restrooms & Hidden Fees
My experience at this restaurant was a mixed bag. The food was definitely authentic and rather good, earning a solid 4 out of 5. However, the service, while rated a 4, had a significant drawback: it took -30 minutes to get our food due to a large group ahead of us. The ambience, rated a 2, was further marred by the cleanliness and infrastructure of the restrooms, which were disappointing. A major point of contention was the “tax” that was added manually at the end of our meal, amounting to approximately 22% of the menu prices. For two people who don't drink alcohol, we ended up paying $60. While the place is good, it's possibly overpriced for what is offered.

Fire Pork Platter, Worth the Price
This place is fire! I got the poc chuc pork platter, and it was huge. While it's a bit pricey for a pop-in lunch, it was worth every penny. The pork tasted like it came right off the grill, and the hot sauce was flavorful and obviously homemade. I would come back anytime and try some of the other exotic dishes.

Unique Mayan Flavors, Poor Service
My experience at this restaurant was marked by a significant disconnect in its categorization. It was mislabeled as Spanish and Mexican on Yelp and Google, which is inaccurate as Mayan culture and languages are distinct. While Mayan cuisine can be part of Latin America, 'Mesoamerican' is a more precise description. It's wonderful to see Mayan cuisine represented, but unfortunately, the overall experience was disappointing, leading me to be generous with a two-star rating. On the positive side, the proteins were quite good. I enjoyed the unique flavors like poc chuc and pollo pibil. The mild salsa was enjoyable, though it lacked strong flavor, and the fried plantains were also a pleasant surprise. However, the negatives significantly impacted the meal. The chips were over-fried. Service was a major issue; requests for refills of small bowls were met with observable disdain from the server, and the customer service was offensive. The staffing was insufficient, with only one person in the kitchen and one serving the front, resulting in a long wait time for food. Additionally, the website was non-functional, and the receipts were unhelpful. We chose this restaurant due to its proximity and higher reviews, but our party's reviews were mixed.

Hidden Gem with Amazing Salsa and Poc Chuc
My experience at this restaurant was fantastic! It's a true hidden gem, offering some of the best salsa I've ever had in the city. The Poc chuc was grilled beef at its finest, and the watermelon agua fresca was absolutely amazing. The atmosphere and service were both top-notch, rated a 5 out of 5. It's also very wheelchair accessible and kid-friendly. The price per person is around $20–30, and there was no wait time.

Disappointing Opening Hours Experience
My experience was one of frustration as I waited outside for 30 minutes past the published opening time. Employees were visible inside, but the door remained locked. I eventually gave up and went across the street to Cocina Mayah, which was both open and very good.

Poor Food Quality, Not Worth the Price
My experience at this restaurant was very disappointing. The food quality was very bad and definitely not worth the money. I would recommend going to El Toro on 17th and Valencia instead, as it is 100% worth the extra few blocks.

Unique Mayan Flavors, Great Value
My experience at this Mayan restaurant was quite unique and different. I particularly enjoyed the pic-chic, which featured excellent bbq pork, fried red onions, marinated shredded cabbage, and fluffy rice. It was served with hot tortillas and a generous bowl of black beans. We also tried the mixed maya platter, which was very good. The standout items from this platter were the empanadas and two covered puffed tortillas. You get a lot of food, so considering the mixed dish is $17 and the poc-chuc is $18, it's a bargain. The atmosphere was a bit loud inside due to nonstop music videos, but the service was good.
