Terrific Food, Charming Ambiance
My experience at The Peasant was unique, as it's situated within a butcher shop, so don't expect a traditional fine dining atmosphere. The setup was intimate, with one person cooking, one serving, and one handling bussing and water refills. Despite the unconventional setting, the food was terrific, the service was warm, and I found the ambiance quite charming for the few tables available.
The menu is decidedly meat-forward, but a standout for me was a roast cabbage side. Everything was thoughtfully prepared and carefully composed. It's an unusual restaurant, but a very delicious experience.

My experience at this restaurant was truly exceptional. I started with an heirloom tomato salad with basil vinaigrette, followed by a succulent pork cheek confit over creamy sweet corn with pickled peppers. The patè of ham with hot mustard and pickled apples was also a highlight, as was the smoked New York strip with mushroom stew, featuring a surprisingly delicious fried shallot.
For dessert, I enjoyed a delightful steamed pudding with berries and a wonderful sauce. All dishes were expertly paired with a variety of wines. The staff was incredibly nice and helpful, and the communal table experience, sharing with happy strangers, was fantastic.
We absolutely loved the whole experience. While it's an indulgence that will break the bank, it's definitely worth it for a special occasion.

My experience at this restaurant was excellent. The food was amazing, with the steak cooked perfectly. The atmosphere was very relaxing, and the service and knowledge of the staff were great.
I have never been to a place to eat where the staff was so knowledgeable on all the cuts of meat and food that they served and shared with the customers. It was an excellent experience, thank you for such an amazing evening!
