I was going to leave a 1-star review to protect our favorite neighborhood restaurant from being overrun by influencers. The food was excellent, earning a perfect 5/5. The service was also impeccable, rated 5/5.
The atmosphere was enjoyable, with a score of 5/5. We visited as a party of 2 people and experienced no wait time. The noise level was moderate.

Mixed Feelings: Great Atmosphere, Disappointing Food
My experience at this restaurant was a mixed bag. The atmosphere was great, earning a 5-star rating. However, the food was a letdown, rated at 2 stars.
While the steak skewers were fantastic, the scallops were overcooked and had a black, crunchy part, which is unacceptable. The fried oysters were too chewy, suggesting they could have been prepared better before frying. Despite the pleasant ambiance, the meal felt overpriced for the amount of food we received.
As a group of two, we spent over $100 before tipping and still weren't full. Service received a 3-star rating.

Mixed Experience: Great Service, Disappointing Food
My experience at the restaurant was a mixed bag. The server was great, providing excellent service. However, the food could definitely be improved.
I'm unsure if we visited on an off day, but the beef tongue felt like it was on the verge of going bad. It had a very mushy texture and a fishy, pasty flavor. The only dish I genuinely enjoyed was the yellowtail collar.

Simply Delicious with Fantastic Service!
My experience at this restaurant was simply delicious. The service was great, with kind and generous staff. The food was prepared with care and tasted fantastic.
I particularly enjoyed the smoked salmon sashimi, which was absolutely mouth-watering, and the scallop and wagyu skewers, which were packed with flavour. I will definitely be back for more!

Disappointing Yakitori Experience
I'm not sure why this place receives so many stars, perhaps it's due to a lack of other yakitori options in SF. My comparison is based on returning from Japan, and for those craving authentic yakitori, you will be sorely disappointed. There's no option for salt or teriyaki seasoning; instead, all the teriyaki sauce is drizzled on top, not cooked with the meats.
Additionally, there are no dipping sauces. The sweet sauce overpowers the flavor of the meats. The squid was essentially sushi squid slices on a stick with no discernible flavor.
The prices were not comparable to the quality of the dishes. The bacon was soft inside with no crispiness, resulting in a soggy texture. I definitely won't be returning and will travel to San Mateo next time to satisfy my yakitori cravings.
The seating is very tight between tables, making it uncomfortable for larger individuals. While some might find it cozy, it's an uncomfortable experience for larger people.

Excellent Yakitori, Worth the Trip
My first time trying yakitori in the US was a fantastic experience, as this place rivaled a shop I visited in Japan. I ordered a variety to sample, and everything was great. I particularly recommend the mune and the unagi; they were melt-in-your-mouth tender.
The quality was excellent, and I would definitely return if I lived closer!
