Moldy Enoki Mushrooms and Poor Service
My experience at this restaurant was quite negative. I noticed that the enoki mushroom in the display case was literally moldy. When I pointed this out, the service worker tried to tell us it was fine, which was concerning.
However, the chef confirmed it was indeed not fine. To their credit, they did allow us to return our ingredient bowls and leave without further issue.

Disappointing Takeout Experience
I ordered about 1lb of takeout food, but upon arriving home and starting to eat, I discovered that half of the items I selected and paid for were missing. The missing items included pumpkin, tofu skin knots, broccoli, quail eggs, bean curd skin, and baby corn. While I don't believe this was intentional, it was still very disappointing for a foodie who carefully selected their meal.
The beef soup base was okay.

Great Mala Pot with Customizable Spice
My experience at this restaurant was centered around their great mala pot. I appreciated that there were many levels of spice available, allowing for customization. The service is counter service; you fill your bowl with the ingredients you want, and they weigh it and charge accordingly.
I consistently end up taking food home, and it usually lasts for several meals. The selection of ingredients is good. One minor drawback is that it closes somewhat early.

Fun and Tasty Build-Your-Own Bowl!
I just discovered this place and had a fun and tasty experience! You get to build your own bowl of noodles and pick your soup. I tried the Laksa, and while there was a good selection, I could have loved more options, but it’s so easy to overeat when you’re building your own!
I will definitely be back!

Delicious Malatang with Great Variety
My experience at this restaurant was fantastic! I was impressed by the great variety of malatang ingredients, including my favorites: beef tripe and quail eggs. The broths were also flavourful and delicious.
I often come here for a quick dinner, and it's a great addition to Clement St.

Disappointing Malatang Portion and Leaky Packaging
My experience ordering Malatang (2 LB) was disappointing as the portion size felt like only 1 lb. Additionally, the packaging was not good this time, and the soup leaked out of the container. I also noted that the Beef Soup was recommended.

Oily Broth and Undercooked Veggies
My experience at this restaurant was disappointing. The beef broth was very oily and lacked flavor. The vegan broth had a noticeable fishy taste.
Additionally, the root veggies were not cooked thoroughly. I also noted that there was no dry pot option available. For comparison, Zhangliang in Berkeley is much better.

Love the by the pound approach!
I love the by the pound approach, which allows me to pick exactly what I want and avoid ingredients I don’t care for. The staff was friendly! I will definitely come again!
