L&L Hawaiian Barbecue - Reviews

I've been a loyal customer of L&L for years, frequenting their Sports Arena and Hawaii locations. Yesterday, I visited the Sports Arena restaurant and ordered the Katsu Chicken & Shrimp with well-done fries only. I specifically requested this twice at the counter. However, when my order was ready, it came with rice and mac salad, and no fries. I returned the order without touching it, and the staff member insisted I had ordered mac salad. After a misunderstanding, they took it back. About 10 minutes later, I received my order again, this time with half-cooked fries, and the rice was still on the plate, making my chicken and shrimp cold. I just needed to vent. There were no apologies made. I'm wondering what is happening, perhaps new management?

The food score was a perfect 5, and the price per person was a reasonable $10–20. Service and atmosphere were also rated well at 4, with no wait time and a quiet, easy-to-talk noise level. My experience at this restaurant was unfortunately very negative due to a severe mix-up with my order. I had ordered the musubi spam, but the cashier gave me a fish one instead. This mistake led to me currently being in the ER because I have a fish allergy.

My experience at this L&L location was a delightful monthly Hawaiian food treat. I was pleased to find they now offer delicious lumpias. The Kalua pork with cabbage was also delicious. The food was rated a 5, and the atmosphere was also a perfect 5. The service was excellent, also rated a 5.

My recent experience at this L&L location was disappointing, as it seems standards for both food and customer service have declined. I ordered a chicken katsu plate and was shocked by the quality: the chicken was paper-thin, overly crunchy, and not prepared correctly. When I returned to address this, my husband mentioned his barbecue mix plate had chicken that didn't appear fully cooked. The response from the cashier was dismissive; she looked at me as if I were being unreasonable before checking the plate. It's disheartening to be served food that the staff wouldn't eat themselves. While waiting for a remake, the staff, including the cook, were observed looking and talking amongst themselves, which felt unprofessional and made me uneasy about the handling of my food. The replacement plate was better but still not up to par. Unlike other L&L locations, this one failed to meet expectations due to poor food quality, lack of customer service, and an unwelcoming atmosphere. I will not be returning.

My experience at the restaurant was centered around their mixed BBQ plate. It arrived quickly and tasted good. The portion size was incredibly generous; there was tons of food, enough that it could easily be split with someone else.

My experience this afternoon was quite disappointing. I find it completely unhinged that the store doesn't allow their delivery drivers access to their restroom without a purchase. These drivers often don't even make minimum wage and lack restroom access in their vehicles. L&L Sports Arena, do better!
