Long Wait, Kitchen Closed, No Food
My experience at this restaurant was extremely disappointing. I traveled over 20 minutes to get there. Upon arrival, I ordered via the QR code and informed the server.
After waiting 40 minutes with no food, I was told the kitchen was closed. I then had to wait to ask for a refund. It seems like anyone can walk in and steal food.
I would recommend ordering from home, as it's wayyyyy faster!

Birthday Dinner Disappointment
I visited this restaurant for my birthday dinner and was surprised to find no Black people working there, which is unusual for a Black-owned establishment. While the chicken was good, the greens were horrible! My kids found the pulled pork and mac n cheese to be just okay, stating they've had better.
I was hoping for an amazing experience and great food, but unfortunately, I received much less than I expected.

Disappointing Soul Food Experience
I was searching for a good soul food restaurant in San Francisco, but this establishment did not meet my expectations. While the restaurant itself is super cute, the food was unfortunately lackluster. The fried chicken was cooked well, but it lacked seasoning and flavor.
The mac and cheese, topped with breadcrumbs, was a sign of what was to come. My boyfriend's shrimp and grits were very disappointing; the grits had no flavor, and instead of a sauce or roux, they simply added canned tomatoes. Despite the restaurant not being busy, the service was very slow.
We ordered via Toast, but our waiter informed us he was attending to a large party and might be unavailable for a while. My overly sweetened sweet tea sat on the counter for an extended period before another waiter brought it over. We received little attention, and I had to ask multiple times for a to-go box and bag.
I won’t be returning.

Disappointing Comfort Food Experience
I came to Little Skillet with high hopes for some Black American comfort food, especially after avoiding fried chicken in the States for years. Unfortunately, my experience was a major letdown. The fried chicken was bland, under-seasoned, and tasted of old oil, not the soulful flavor I expected.
The collard greens lacked depth and character, with an overcooked jalapeño being the only notable element. Even the grits were disappointing, plain with an unpleasant hard crust in the middle. Service was also a letdown; placing an order took a long time, and the wait for food felt excessively long.
Considering the high prices, the overall experience simply wasn't worth it. I'll hold out for real soul food on my next trip to New Orleans.

Soul Food Disappointment
My experience at this restaurant was disappointing. While the atmosphere and staff were nice, the food was a disgrace to soul food. It was terribly bland, and learning it's not black-owned wasn't surprising given the quality of the food.
If you're looking for better chicken and waffles, I'd recommend Cracked and Battered or Brenda's Soul Food.

Delicious Comfort Food Experience
My experience at the restaurant was fantastic! I absolutely loved the biscuits, mushroom gravy, artichoke cakes, mashed potatoes, and fried chicken. I also tried the kale coleslaw and mac and cheese.
The service and atmosphere were both a perfect 5/5, and the food was equally impressive at 5/5.

Exceptional Southern Comfort Food Experience
My recent visit to The Little Skillet in San Francisco with my mom and sweetheart was an exceptional experience. From the moment we walked in, the warm and inviting atmosphere made us feel right at home. The food was nothing short of fantastic, featuring crispy fried chicken, perfectly seasoned grits, melt-in-your-mouth cornbread, and indulgent chicken and waffles that hit every note.
My sweetheart’s shrimp and grits and my mom’s catfish were equally delicious, showcasing the restaurant’s mastery of Southern comfort food. The service was friendly and attentive, adding to the overall welcoming vibe. Whether you’re with family or on a date, The Little Skillet is the perfect spot for soul-satisfying meals and an unforgettable dining experience.
Highly recommend!

Good choices, but flavorless and cold food
My experience at this restaurant offered good choices, but unfortunately, the food lacked flavor. Both the mac n cheese and the mac n cheese balls were served cold in the center, suggesting they were not properly heated. While the environment was nice, I would not return due to the food quality issues.
