Fresh Ingredients, Cash Only
My experience at this restaurant was marked by super fresh ingredients. The chef, who also served as our server, personally showed me the kitchen where he was prepping everything for our meal. We ordered the beef and broccoli chow mein and chicken with green beans.
The food was flavourful but not spicy, and everything was cooked to the right amount. A note for diners: it's cash only, and you need to specify if you want tap water, as bottled water incurs a charge.

Quiet Spot with Great Flavor, High Price
It was a quiet place, small but with good flavor. The service was provided by a very kind gentleman. The only downside is that the price felt very high for what it was.

Disappointing Mongolian Beef, Okay Service
My experience at this restaurant was quite disappointing, primarily due to the Mongolian Beef over rice. It tasted like sweet and sour instead of the usual salty/spicy flavor I expected. On a positive note, the service was reasonably quick during a Thursday noon lunch rush, especially considering it was a one-man operation.
I have no complaints there. It's important to note that this establishment is cash only. If you do decide to visit, I would recommend skipping the Mongolian beef and trying something else on the menu.

Poor Service, Mediocre Food
My experience at this restaurant was very poor. The service was extremely lacking, with one person handling the roles of seat person, waiter, and cook. Their manners were very, very poor.
The food was only mediocre. Additionally, they only accept cash, with no credit card options available.

Delicious Food, Welcoming Owner!
Everything we ordered at J&M A-1 Cafe was delicious! Just a heads-up—during busy hours, you might have to wait a bit since the owner handles everything on his own, from taking orders to cooking and serving. He’s really kind and welcoming, which makes the experience even better.

Amazing Chinese Food Experience!
My experience at this restaurant was fantastic! I had the sesame chicken and my boyfriend ordered the general tso's chicken. We also tried the bbq pork buns.
The portion size was really good for the price. The person I assume is the owner was extremely nice. I would definitely recommend this place if you're looking for good food that will make you smile.

Great Late-Night Spot with Generous Portions
The only place open late in San Francisco, and it was a lifesaver! The owner is genuinely nice and friendly, making you feel at home from the moment you arrive. The dishes are very generous, perfect if you're really hungry, and the price is more than fair for the area.
A simple but cozy atmosphere, perfect for a no-frills but flavorful dinner. I will definitely be back!

Delicious Food and Great Service
My experience at this restaurant was fantastic! The chef/server was extremely nice, and the food was absolutely delicious. Everything we ordered was good, with the Shanghai soup dumplings, beef chow mein, bok choy on the clay pot rice, and peanut pork dumplings standing out as the best dishes.
The dumplings had a fantastic texture in the steamed dough. We had plenty of leftovers, and the ice-cold TsingTao for $7 a bottle was also appreciated!

Cozy HK-Homestyle Cafe Gem
My experience at this restaurant was incredibly homey and authentic. It's a HK-homestyle cafe that is owned and ran by a single, very nice person who is also the cook. I highly recommend making an effort to swing by here if you're in the area.
