Good food, but skimping on avocado
My experience would have been a 5-star if the restaurant hadn't skimped on the avocado. I always pay the extra $1. 50, so there's no need for what felt like highway robbery.

Terrible Food Poisoning Experience
I've been a regular customer, visiting this restaurant about 1-2 times a month for the past two years. It's a pretty standard poke place that generally gets the job done if you're looking for poke and a quick meal. However, my order last night unfortunately resulted in the worst food poisoning I've ever experienced.
Due to this severe incident, I likely won't be returning.

Disappointing Portions and Service
My experience at this restaurant was disappointing. I found them to be stingy with the napkins; when I asked for more, I was given only a single thin one. Additionally, the food portions weren't great considering the price.
Overall, it was a disappointing experience.

Terrible Sushi Burrito Experience
My experience at this restaurant was unfortunately very negative. I ordered a sushi burrito, and it was terrible. The fish chunks were cut unevenly and were too large, and to make matters worse, they were completely unfresh and sour.
I was also surprised by the choice of using salted roasted seaweed as the wrapping instead of traditional sushi nori. This seaweed was flaking apart, causing the contents to spill out. It was the first time in my life I've been unable to eat poke; it was nearly inedible.
I would avoid this place.

Smaller Portions for the Price
Wow… I’ve been coming here for at least 3 years and this is the amount of food I got for $15. The portions are smaller each time.

Best Poke in SF!
My experience at this restaurant was fantastic! I always get extra scoops of both tuna and salmon because I'm a big meat eater. Their fish tastes the freshest and they have plentiful ingredient options, making it so easy to build a bowl you'll love.
Even with my friends having soooooo many dietary restrictions (pescatarian, vegetarian, vegan, celiacs, dairy-free, nut allergies, gluten-free, 😵💫 etc.), everyone loves this place 🙏🏾 and gets full 👍🏾. The manager, Will, is super nice, and the staff have all been wonderful and fast. My only critique is that I wish there was more seating for larger groups inside, but I'm still happy to take our orders to DOLO down the street and eat in the park.

Okay Poke, Might Return
My experience at this restaurant was that the poke was okay. I wouldn't necessarily recommend it to a friend, but I would go back if I'm in the area, if that makes sense.

Solid Lunch Option in the Neighborhood
I don't find myself in this neighborhood very often, but I'a Poke is always a solid lunch option when I do. It's a small but mighty place with flavourful options, lol. There's some indoor seating available, but on a nice day, I like to take my bowl to-go and eat at Dolores Park nearby.
If you get overwhelmed by all the mix-in choices, I'a has preset poke bowls and burritos, and the staff is available to suggest combinations. The location is easy to reach on foot or by public transit, with a MUNI station close by.

Fresh Poke Bowls with a Personal Touch
I'm writing this review straightforwardly. The atmosphere was pretty standard—nothing fancy, just a simple place that felt like eating in a kitchen, which I didn’t mind at all. The service was excellent.
The person who took my order was patient and very knowledgeable, clearly knowing what they were doing, which made the ordering process smooth and pleasant. As for the poke bowl itself, I really enjoyed it! I appreciated how they presented the bowl; unlike other places that mix everything with the sauce before putting it on the rice, they kept each ingredient beautifully arranged.
I chose yellowtail, spicy tuna, and marinated tuna—all of which were fresh, likely because the place is always busy and ingredients sell out quickly. Interestingly, they don’t have a traditional poke sauce, but you can mix and match your own. I went with wasabi soy sauce, tamari soy sauce, and ponzu.
Since I chose marinated tuna, the overall flavor was a bit too salty, but that was my own choice and not the restaurant’s fault. They also offer a wide variety of toppings. If you get the medium-sized bowl, you can add as many as you like, while the regular size is limited to three.
The only downside for me was the rice. They were kind enough to make sushi rice upon my request (which I really appreciated), but the texture was too soft and watery for my taste. If you prefer firmer rice, I’d suggest going with the brown rice option.
One tip for anyone visiting: I like to order spicy mayo on the side. The best way to enjoy the poke bowl, in my opinion, is to put a little bit of spicy mayo on top of the fish (or any protein), then scoop it with rice, toppings, and protein together in one bite. It’s absolutely delicious!
Spicy Mayo makes everything nice and rich. Do not put too much, that ruins all flavor. Despite the rice issue, everything else was amazing, and I will definitely be back.
Highly recommended!

Solid Poke Spot with Dietary Options
My experience at this restaurant was positive. It's a solid spot for poke. They offer gluten-free soy sauce and the menu clearly indicates which items contain gluten, making it easy for those with dietary restrictions.
The recommended dish is 'Build Your Own'.
