Gorgeous Flavors, Lovely Experience
My experience at House of Tadu was wonderful! I had the vegetarian plate, which was a sampling of four dishes. The red chickpea dish was outstanding, as were the beets and the dressing on the side salad.
My friend noted that the food was not oversalted, allowing the full flavors of the vegetables and spices to shine through. It was truly beautiful clean food. The staff made a significant impression.
The person who greeted me and took my order was super lovely and her enthusiasm for the food was infectious, which was a deciding factor in my trying the restaurant. The chef also came out to check on me, which was very warm and lovely, especially during a slow period. When I requested a bit of the veg that hadn't been served with the cabbage dish, she was gracious about providing it.
While the carrots in the cabbage dish absorbed the spices beautifully, I found the potatoes and cabbage needed more spice infusion. The injera was beautiful, based on my limited experience. The restaurant's atmosphere is enhanced by wonderful large photo art of Ethiopian tribes, done by S.
F. Architects, which impressively covers the main walls. It's a casual but warm restaurant located on a commercially developed stretch of 4th St, near the UCSF Mission Bay campus.
It's a very worth stopping in after appointments at the medical center. I also appreciated the cushioned banquette seating along the windows. Ethiopian cuisine is the best, and it's always wonderful to learn and experience more of this rich and devout ancient culture.

Fresh Food, Great Value, Highly Recommended
I came in for a sit-down lunch and it didn’t disappoint. Everything tasted so fresh and you can tell that it was made to order, which is something that is kind of hard to find in this area. The prices are also extremely reasonable for the area!
I highly recommend this place; it’s honestly slept on. Great parklet and bike parking as well!

Good food, minimal service
My experience at this restaurant was characterized by its fast food ambiance. The service was practically non-existent, as ordering is done via a screen, and staff simply place the plates on the table. However, the food taste was good and flavorful.

Overrated and Filthy Experience
My experience at this restaurant was extremely disappointing. The service was terrible; I waited an excessive amount of time for my food. When it finally arrived, the portions were skimped on, and the food did not match the menu's presentation.
It felt rushed and was served cold, with the salad consisting of only a few pieces of lettuce and thin onion slices. The restaurant was filthy, with dirty dishes everywhere, and tables were not cleaned or cleared, leading to customers cleaning their own. There were no clean cups for water, and the water station was also cluttered with dirty dishes.
I ordered a Kitfo roll, and the meat portion was noticeably small. I agree with other negative reviews and was very disappointed.

Authentic Injera & Childhood Memories
I was craving Injera while watching a baseball game at Oracle Park, and luckily, this place is within walking distance of the stadium. As a child, I was often invited to my Ethiopian friends' family gatherings, and the food at House of Tadu Ethiopian Kitchen brought back so many wonderful childhood memories. I ordered the meat combo platter, and the flavors were exactly as I remembered.
The Injera was on point ❤️. My son also enjoyed the vegetarian combo, even though it was his first time trying Ethiopian food.

First Ethiopian Experience - Good Food, Loud Room
As a first-timer at an Ethiopian restaurant, my experience was positive. I found the menu selection to be great and the portion size to be decent. However, the dining room was very echo-y.
Even with only one other group present, it was already becoming loud, which detracted from the overall atmosphere.

Salty, Dry Food and Dirty Environment
My experience at this restaurant was quite negative. The food was excessively salty and dry, with the only redeeming quality being the yellow lentils. To make matters worse, the establishment was dirty, and I even found a hair.
The service, atmosphere, and food were all rated a 1 out of 5.

Solid Ethiopian with a Twist
My experience at this cool modern Ethiopian restaurant was solid. The meat and veggie combos were great, and I especially enjoyed the dish with lamb and collards mixed. While it would be even better if the dishes were served on top of an entire plate of injera, like most Ethiopian restaurants, they do provide plenty of injera on the side, so it’s no big deal.
The service, atmosphere, and food all received a perfect score of 5.
