Service (4.5 out of 10)

mentioned by 34% of the guests

When it comes to service, its a bit of a mixed bag, with a score of 4.5, placing it in the average range. If youre seeking a casual sports bar, especially to catch a Vikings game, this spot could be a fun choice. However, if youre expecting a unique or upscale atmosphere, you might find it a bit ordinary. It's a solid pick for a laid-back game day, but perhaps not for a special occasion.

Value (2.6 out of 10)

mentioned by 25% of the guests

When it comes to value, a few folks found something to smile about, with one person noting the price was quite affordable for a good lunch. In fact, customer satisfaction for value sits at a respectable 77%, which is pretty good overall. It seems that for some, the cost aligned perfectly with their expectations.

However, the overall score for value is a rather poor 2.6, and its clear why, with 12 out of 13 comments expressing concern. Many felt the price for sandwiches was too high, especially given the portion size, leading to a perception of poor value. The added takeaway fee also didnt sit well with customers, making the cost feel even more unreasonable, creating a stark contrast with the otherwise good customer satisfaction.

Thank you for standing for values
I read about this restaurant in the news and I’d just like to say thank you for standing for what’s right. As Americans, it seems we as a society have been slowly losing our values, and I’m happy to hear this cafe has a clear understanding of what’s theirs. The atmosphere was rated a 5.

Overpriced Sandwich, Lacking Sides
My experience at this restaurant was disappointing due to the high price and missing items. I found the $25 price for a sandwich to be insane. Additionally, there was an unexpected $1. 75 takeaway fee. I also thought the sandwich was supposed to come with chips, but there were none. While the sandwich itself was good, I don't believe any sandwich, other than a muffaletta in New Orleans, is worth $25.

Overpriced Hoagie with Bad Coleslaw
My experience at this restaurant was disappointing due to the high cost and poor value. I ordered a single hoagie to go, and with a 20% tip, the total came to $30. To make matters worse, they added a fee for taking the sandwich to go, which I found ridiculous. While the hoagie itself was good, the coleslaw was actively bad. For $30, I expected a much better deal; at $15, it might have been acceptable, but at this price, I will never return. Additionally, the wait time for my food felt long, especially since I was the only one ordering in the bar area. The bar itself is just a generic sports bar with little character.

Ignored Requests, Illness Followed
I ordered twice from this restaurant because I'm too far from other sandwich places for pick up or delivery. On both occasions, my requests to leave the sandwich whole and omit the hot peppers were ignored. This last order led to a bad night of intestinal illness, from both ends. I'll leave Hog Island Hoagie off my list of places to eat at or from.

Good sandwich, high price
Yeah OK, the sandwich was good. However, I paid $25 after all the taxes and fees for one small sandwich. Also, they forgot part of my order and had to make it after I got there. I could easily go to a place like Jersey Mike’s that has sandwiches that are, I think, just as good at half the price.
