My experience at Hard Knox was a great value. I would highly recommend coming here. The portions are absolutely huge, and I usually end up taking food home. The corn bread that comes with the entrees is great and is always hot and fresh. The staff are all really friendly and their service is excellent.

I was visiting my nephew’s family from out of town last week, and we decided to meet for breakfast at this popular neighborhood diner. My nephew has a nearly two-year-old, so we wanted a place where we could enjoy a hearty brunch that was comfortable and reasonably priced. Hard Knox checked all the boxes and then some! It's a charming cafe in an obviously family-friendly neighborhood, with great vibes that made us feel right at home immediately. My husband and I both ordered the Hard Knox omelette and loved it – it was made with fresh ingredients, savory, and satisfying! The coffee was excellent, and the service was outstanding. Our waitress was welcoming and thoughtful, and she even knew our nephew’s family, making us feel truly at home.

My experience at this restaurant was disappointing. I paid $56 for what I expected to be a substantial meal, but I received only two oxtails, two ribs, and two pieces of dried-out fried chicken. The food quality was poor, and the portion size was inadequate for the price. The atmosphere and service both received a low rating of 1, indicating a very unsatisfactory experience in those areas as well. While wheelchair accessibility is possible, the difficulty in finding parking and the overall high price per person ($50–100) made this a poor value.

My experience at Hard Knox was fantastic! I arrived with a raging headache, and the Spicy Chicken Sandwich with a side of Mac & Cheese was the perfect cure. I left feeling like a new woman! The portions here are huge, and I've enjoyed almost everything on the menu, sometimes even as leftovers. I absolutely love this place and I'm confident you will too.

My recent experience at the restaurant was quite disappointing. The server forgot our order and then brought us the wrong food. This mistake was repeated for dessert. Furthermore, the food was cold and underseasoned.

My experience at this restaurant has changed significantly since they first opened. Initially, the food was good, but now it's pretty mid at best. I guess that's what happens when you fall for a propagandist.

San Francisco has a lack of good Southern food. This is probably the best place in SF for Southern cuisine. The server we had today was outstanding. He was on top of everything & had a great eye for detail. The eggs were cooked perfectly, the country fried steak was probably the best I’ve had in California. Hush puppies were legit, the cornbread was on point. This is a jewel of a cafe.
