Outstanding French Cuisine and Service
My experience at Chapeau, a French restaurant in SF, was truly amazing. The food was outstanding, and the service was great. The staff was kind and very attentive, even on a busy night.
We began with the Pate En Croute, Beet Salad, and Salmon Trio Tartar, all of which were very well prepared and tasty. For the main course, the Cassoulet, Branzino, and the Duck Breast were highlights, with the duck breast being particularly outstanding. We enjoyed a bottle of Pommard Rebourgeon, but were too stuffed for dessert.
Reservations are a must for this exceptional dining experience.

We stopped by just for dessert, and what can I say? It was the best crème brûlée I’ve ever had. The waiter was very attentive and responsive.

Chapeau: A San Francisco French Gem
My experience at Chapeau was fantastic, arguably the best meal I've had in San Francisco. The menu, though simple, showcased many French classics. The food was delicious, offering a refreshing departure from overly complicated French cooking styles.
The drinks and cocktails were also excellent, with the Earl Grey martini being a personal favorite. Service was attentive without being intrusive, demonstrating that mastering the basics truly makes a difference. It's no surprise this restaurant has thrived for over 25 years.
Hats off to the Chapeau team!

Fantastic Birthday Celebration at Chapeau!
My second visit to Chapeau was, as always, a great experience! I celebrated my birthday here with a larger party of 10, and they happily accommodated us, which I deeply appreciated, especially since I reached out 1. 5 months in advance.
Chef Philippe brings such fun energy and personally checks in on guests, which I really appreciated. The dishes were both delicious and beautifully plated, and the team was attentive throughout. Standouts included the soupe à l’oignon, filet mignon, mussels, and crème brûlée.

Good Entrees, Over-burnt Dessert
My experience at the restaurant was mixed. The food was generally good, with the entrees, specifically the cassoulet and branzino, being the best. The onion soup was just fine, not great.
For dessert, the creme brulee was a bit over-burnt on top, which didn't seem to align with the price point. The service was rated a 4, and the atmosphere was also rated a 4. The noise level was loud, but it was still possible to talk.
