Small Portions, High Price, No Return
My experience at this restaurant was disappointing. I was surprised by the prefix menu, which cost $89 per person. I was also informed that canceling the prefix menu would incur a $40 per person cancellation fee, which felt excessive. The portions were very small, with only five items on the prefix menu. Given the small portions and the cost, I would not return to this restaurant, nor would I recommend it to a friend.

Mixed Experience with Great Mocktails
My experience at this restaurant offered a great selection of mocktails. The five-course menu was good, with a strong theme of soy and ginger. The soup was my favorite, delivering an explosion of flavor. However, the coconut mochi burger was messy to eat, and while the fish was tender, the cabbage and rice were flavorless. The ice cream had an icy texture, though the soursop flavor was interesting. Despite the small portion sizes, the meal was surprisingly filling. The seating arrangement was not ideal for a party of two, with only giant tables and bar seating available.

A Flavorful and Accommodating Dining Experience
I had an absolutely wonderful experience at Azalina's. The food and drinks were nothing short of a flavor explosion, offering so many different tastes to experience. The ambience was lovely, creating a feeling of being in a quaint courtyard in another country. They were also very accommodating when we contacted them ahead of time to inform them about our gluten and tomato intolerance. The service was warm, friendly, and professional. I love that they change their menu every 4 weeks, providing a new experience each visit. We will definitely be returning!

Authentic Malaysian Gem with Great Service
I had a fantastic meal here on all fronts. The chef came out to describe each dish on the tasting menu, which was a lovely touch. The mocktails were delicious, and the portions were good. It didn't feel too fancy, and the overall experience felt authentic Malaysian. They are accommodating of allergies, and it's a woman-owned establishment. The only downside is its location in the Tenderloin, but having a man at the door helped me feel safe.

Authentic Malaysian Food Elevated
As a Malaysian, I'm accustomed to seeking out restaurants with "Thai & Malaysian food" in their name to satisfy my cravings in America, understanding that Malaysian cuisine is often underrepresented. Azalina's has changed that. She has masterfully stayed true to the original flavors while simultaneously elevating our food, making it a truly joyful experience. The dishes and the compelling stories behind their creation are absolutely incredible. Terima kasih for bringing Malaysian food to the forefront and for doing so in a way that uplifts the community.

Bad service despite service fee
My experience at this restaurant was disappointing. A 20% service fee was charged, but the service was very bad. No one attempted to refill our water, and our complaints were ignored. The food received a score of 3, atmosphere a 2, and service a 1.

Impeccable Service Despite Understaffing
My experience at the restaurant was impeccable, even though they were understaffed on the night of my visit. The food and service were outstanding. The team was gracious, kind, and attentive, and they were apologetic for any delays. I appreciated not feeling rushed after finishing my meal, allowing me to truly eat and enjoy the experience. I would 10/10 come back!

Delicious Food & Incredible Staff!
My experience at this restaurant was fantastic! The food was delicious, flavorful, and unique. What truly made our night special was the incredible staff. Despite being short-staffed, the team never stopped moving and maintained incredible poise while serving a full restaurant. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for delicious food served with compassion and kindness. They also have great vegan options!

Severe Allergy Risk at Azalina's
I have a tree nut allergy that, while not severe enough to cause anaphylaxis from cross-contamination, results in noticeable and unpleasant swelling of my throat and lips. When dining out, I always inform the restaurant about my allergy. I noted this allergy in my reservation at Azalina's and repeatedly informed the waitstaff. Despite these precautions, I had an allergic reaction to my main course. This occurred even after I reminded the waitress, who then took the dish back to the kitchen to ensure no tree nuts were present, and confirmed with the kitchen. This experience suggests either the kitchen disregarded the repeated warnings about my tree nut allergy or was unable to prepare the food without tree nuts. I cannot definitively say which is true, but the outcome was the same. I would not recommend Azalina's to anyone with a tree nut allergy. The kitchen's apparent inability or unwillingness to accommodate this allergy is a serious concern. If I had experienced a severe reaction, the consequences could have been dire. Dining out with an allergy requires constant vigilance, but what happened at Azalina's was not foreseeable. I informed the kitchen multiple times, and they either did not care or could not prepare my food safely. Consequently, I had a reaction and had to leave to seek treatment. I strongly advise anyone with a tree nut allergy to avoid this restaurant, as the kitchen either cannot or will not ensure allergen-free meals.
