Atrocious Service, Mediocre Food, Uncomfortable Seating
My experience at this restaurant was largely negative. The service was atrocious, with everyone being rude and unprofessional. For the lunch buffet, the food was only 'mid'. We were seated in a booth where some areas literally had 0 cushioning, forcing me to sit on wood. When we mentioned this, they brought out a booster seat cushion with attitude.

Monthly Buffet Delight: Tasty Food & Great Service
My coworkers and I make it a point to visit this restaurant every month for their lunch buffet. The experience is consistently positive, thanks to the very reasonable price and great service. The servers are incredibly friendly and attentive, always checking in, refilling our water, and bringing out naan. The food here is exceptionally tasty, and they offer something new and exciting at the buffet each month. I particularly rave about the butter chicken and goat curry – they are so good, I can't get enough! The buffet boasts a variety of different foods and desserts, ensuring there's something for everyone. I always leave feeling happy and full after each visit. It's a place with very tasty dishes and great service.

Expensive but Worthy Indian Gem
My experience at this Indian restaurant in San Francisco was quite positive. Although it's quite expensive, with costs exceeding $60 per person, I found it to be worthy of the price. The food, service, and atmosphere all received top marks, indicating a consistently excellent dining experience.

Amber: A Vibrant SFO Indian Gem
I visited Amber in downtown SFO after seeing their great Google reviews, and it truly lived up to the hype. The ambience is spacious, vibrant, and welcoming, with both indoor and outdoor seating. The service was top-notch—staff were warm and attentive. I tried the malai chicken kebab which was freshly made, and when I asked for more spice, they promptly replaced it with a spicier version along with delicious chutneys. The chicken biryani was unique—different from Texas-style Hyderabad dum biryani but equally flavorful and made with fresh white meat. Though a bit pricier compared to Texas, the overall experience—food, service, and vibe—makes it worth it. Highly recommend Amber for anyone looking for quality Indian food and a great place to hang out.

Overpriced Buffet, Lacking Flavor
My experience at this restaurant was largely disappointing, primarily due to the overpriced and poorly executed buffet. For nearly $50, the spread was quite typical for an Indian buffet, and the dosa station and free weekend drink didn't justify the cost. The weekday price might be slightly lower. The limited meat options included butter chicken and a bony goat curry, lacking more premium choices like lamb. Both the tandoori chicken and another grilled chicken were dry and tasted reheated, lacking flavor and freshness. Everything I tried was mediocre, and I had no desire for seconds. The atmosphere was also uncomfortable; the restaurant was too warm, and the chairs were awkwardly low in relation to the tables. The abundance of small plates on the table required stacking. The stereos were too hot, causing the food to sizzle and be too hot to eat immediately. Overall, it was an underwhelming experience with poor value, honestly feeling like it should be half the price. While the service was good and the place was clean and tidy, the buffet itself is not worth the price.

Fantastic Korma and Curry!
My experience at the restaurant was fantastic! I enjoyed the mixed veggie korma, yuzu chicken curry, and the assorted bread basket, which was more than enough to share. The curry had just the right amount of spice to satisfy my craving for hot food without being too overwhelming for milder palates. I would suggest getting rice to accompany the curry, as it helps with the sauce. The variety of breads was also great.

Stroller Policy Ruins Experience
My wife and I visited Amber near SFMOMA with our sleeping baby in a stroller. The hostess initially seated us, but a few minutes later, the manager asked us to leave because of the stroller. This was particularly frustrating as 80% of the restaurant's seating was empty at the time. I want to warn others that this stupid manager might treat other families with young children the same way.

Outrageous Prices, Poor Value
My experience at this restaurant was extremely disappointing due to the exorbitant prices and perceived lack of value. The reviewer felt that the food, while having some unique offerings like Chilean sea bass and New Zealand lamb, was not worth the significantly inflated cost. Normal dishes such as palak paneer and butter chicken were priced at over $30, which is nearly double the city's average. The reviewer also noted instances of corner-cutting, such as serving cheap prosecco at high prices and using leftovers in Chinese boxes. The food quality itself was also criticized, with the roti being hard and the lacha paratha even harder, and the lamb appetizer being bland. For $175 for two people eating very little, the reviewer found it to be a "rip off" and a form of "highway robbery. " The reviewer strongly suggests exploring the "million other outstanding Indian restaurants in the Bay Area" instead.
