Fantastic Dining Experience at Covewood!
My experience at Covewood Restaurant, located on the San Diego Mission Bay Resort's campus, was absolutely wonderful! : -) I visited a couple of times during a local conference and each visit was fantastic. The staff are so lovely, with special thanks to Omar, Jon, and Juan for going above & beyond to ensure guests are comfortable and have everything they need.
The food is DELICIOUS; both groups I visited with were blown away by the quality, presentation, and speed of delivery. I highly recommend their Clam Chowder, Pear Salad, Classic Caesar, and Potato Gnocchi. The special Fried Calamari starter was also delicious.
Everything I tried was fresh, flavorful, and served at the correct temperature. Their cocktails are excellent, especially the False Bay Paloma. The atmosphere is darling, warm, inviting, cozy, and comfortable.
My favorite spot was the large table by the statement fireplace, perfect for our group's final dinner. Thank you, Covewood!

Absolute Gas! Unreal Food & Vibes
My experience at this restaurant was absolutely fantastic! The pork chops were unreal, and the lobster mac was elite. The atmosphere was perfect, and the espresso martinis were like rocket fuel.
To top it off, the warm fudge brownie and toffee dessert were also unreal. I highly recommend this place!

Blown Away by Mission Bay Find!
Holy guacamoly! We had an impromptu Sunday lunch and were absolutely blown away. The service was top-level, and the ambience and decor were perfect.
But the food, omg! The coconut curry mussels and burger to share were incredible. For dessert, the key lime pie was thicc and decadent.
This is an extremely lucky find in Mission Bay and will be our new happy hour spot from now on.

Outstanding Food and Amazing Service!
After a delightful experience at Brezza Spa, Mission Bay Resort, we went to Covewood, the bayside restaurant, to celebrate our friendship. The food was outstanding and the service was amazing. Our waiters, Miguel A and Andrew P, did a fabulous job from the Prosecco that we started with, to the birthday cake we ended with; it was fantastic.

Delicious Dinner and Breakfast at The Cove
We recently stayed at Mission Bay Resort for four nights and had the pleasure of dining at The Cove for dinner twice and breakfast twice. Our dinner experiences were amazingly delicious. My husband enjoyed the steak dinner one night and the pork chops the next, while I savored the gnocchi on both occasions.
We also shared a side of carrots and sautéed mushrooms. Every dish was not only perfectly presented but also tasted great. We highly recommend The Cove for both breakfast and dinner.
Coming from South Carolina, we found the price to be fair.

Terrible Food and Service, Long Wait
My experience at this restaurant was overwhelmingly negative. We visited for lunch during a 2. 5-hour break between my daughter's tournament matches.
Despite the restaurant being nearly empty, we were told there would be a 30-minute wait. After waiting over 30 minutes, the service was incredibly slow and inattentive. We informed our server, Roy, that we were in a hurry and wanted to order immediately, but it still took 1.
5 hours from our arrival to receive our food. We received no soda refills, my turkey club sandwich was missing turkey, and my son's chicken strips were so tough he couldn't eat them. I called the restaurant immediately after leaving because the food and service were so awful, especially considering the $163 bill.
I never received a call back. I regret not eating at the snack bar at the tennis club instead; my daughter mentioned she would have preferred their $10 turkey sandwich, stating it was much better.

Great Service, Okay Food, Confusing Surcharge
My experience at this restaurant was a mixed bag. The food was just okay, nothing special but not bad either. I would have rated it 3 stars, but the bartender/barista, a guy from Boston, was absolutely fantastic and earned the 4th star.
However, I'm confused by the 5% surcharge – why not just raise the prices directly?

Perfect Relaxing Lunch with Great Service
After a wonderful massage on Sunday, I enjoyed lunch at the poolside bar, and it turned out to be the perfect way to continue a relaxing day. Steve G was tending the bar, and I ended up staying much longer than planned after finishing my meal. The drinks were refreshing, and both Steve and the waiter staff were incredibly welcoming.
The view of the bay was just what I needed to truly unwind and find my happy place. Thank you for the warm hospitality, I’m already looking forward to my next visit.

Consistent Food, Inconsistent Service
We always enjoy coming to Covewood, a spot we've frequented for special occasions, business lunches, and to showcase the property's signature "Hawaiian resort-style" atmosphere to out-of-town guests. The food is consistently very good, which is a primary reason for our repeat visits year after year. While the food and atmosphere are reliable, the level of service can be unpredictable.
The staff is generally warm, friendly, and polite, but the follow-through on service can be hit or miss. We've experienced instances where simple requests like drink refills were missed due to a lack of timely check-ins. Over our 20 years dining here, this inconsistency has led to missed opportunities for additional beverage sales.
Despite this, we find enough enjoyment to continue returning and highly recommend Covewood for its fun atmosphere and enjoyable dining experience.

Worst Service and Manager Experience
My experience at the Covewood bar and restaurant was the worst I've ever encountered. I frequent the bar often due to playing pickleball at the resort, and I have never witnessed such a lack of professionalism from a bar manager. This manager is one of the sleaziest individuals I've met.
A significant issue arose when my credit card, given to the bartender for an open tab, was reported as not received upon checkout. They claimed I never provided it, only to later admit they had misplaced it. This is unacceptable for a resort establishment, which I expected to be far superior to a 'trashy neighborhood bar.
' Adding to the poor experience, a 20% large group fee was charged while we were seated at the bar, a practice I understood to be for table service. This was hands down the worst manager and service I have ever experienced anywhere, and it's embarrassing for Mission Bay.
