Fantastic Tofu and Curry!
My initial expectations were low due to the minimal look of the restaurant, but the experience was pretty fantastic! I enjoyed the tofu, while my dining companion had a natto chicken curry. Both dishes featured a super savory broth and high quality veggies, tofu, and meat, all presented with care. The restaurant offers a wide range of spiciness options. The side salad was also carefully constructed, including pickled onions and a really tasty dressing.

Interesting Flavors, Needs Ventilation
Glad to find new restaurants offering food that doesn’t really exist in Seattle. We ordered beef brisket curry and the beef vindaloo. Two things to comment on: 1. Food is ok. My favorite thing is the rice. Very good quality rice - fluffy, sticky and chewy. Katsu is 7. 5/10 - good thickness and juicy, although the meat could be processed better to get rid of the pork smell. The curry itself lacks some cohesiveness; you will taste each ingredient in there with its own taste… potatoes taste like potato, carrots taste like carrots, beef tastes like beef. I’d guess they were cooked separately and assembled in the soup curry before serving. I don’t know what an authentic bowl should taste like, but I expect things to taste more like the base curry. The beef vindaloo with spice level 1 full sent my bf. Wayyyy too spicy. Spicier than my level 6 soup curry. 2. The air inside the restaurant is what killed us. We could barely keep our eyes open cuz of how smoky and spicy the air was. Please improve the ventilation! Overall, love to see a new flavor addition to Seattle, but lots of room for improvement!

Lovely Ravenna Eatery
My experience at this restaurant was delightful. It's a fun and yummy spot located in lovely Ravenna. I'd recommend taking a stroll, stopping by, and shopping at the small local shops and eateries. The restaurant is big kid friendly, with a price range of $20–30 per person. For vegetarians, it's highly recommended as they have clearly labeled vegetarian dishes. The atmosphere, service, and food all received a perfect 5/5 rating. We enjoyed it for lunch.

Interesting Soup Curry, Pricey
My experience at the restaurant was interesting. Soup curry isn't common in Seattle, so I respect the vision. The food was pretty good, but their spice levels didn't seem to match the ordering menu, indicating some kinks to work out. It felt a bit pricey for what it is, to be honest.

Promising Soup Curry, Needs Refinement
As a soup curry enthusiast who has waited eight years for a local shop, I was incredibly excited to try Curry Lab. My main expectations were an assortment of different veggies/toppings and a flavorful soup. Unfortunately, the topping options were limited, featuring a protein, eggplant, shishito pepper, broccoli, and large chunks of carrot and potato. The larger vegetable chunks seemed a bit undercooked, and I missed options like quail egg or lotus root. There's also no way to add extra vegetables. The soup base was just 'ok', a little mild and not as thick or hearty as I'd hoped, unlike the tomato base at SAMA. I might try the beef version next time. On both key aspects I look for, Curry Lab didn't quite deliver. Another issue was the paper bowl and plate, which caused the curry to get cold quickly. I'd gladly pay $30 for a luxurious, hot bowl with all the trimmings, but paying ~$23 for the basics in disposable ware isn't ideal. This place is new and still developing, so I hope this feedback helps. I'm rooting for them and will return soon to see if things have improved.

Excellent Curry Spot!
As a Japanese person who loves curry, this place truly hits the spot. They offer both Japanese soup curry and Japanese-style spice curry, which are distinct from Indian or Thai varieties. The meats are always tender, and the big chunks of vegetables are a delightful treat. You have the flexibility to choose your spice level for both curry types. I opted for level 6 out of 10 for the soup curry and felt I could have gone higher. For the spice curry, like the beef brisket vindaloo, level 3 out of 5 already provided a good heat. When I crave spicy curry, I'd lean towards the spice curry over the soup curry. I also really enjoyed their side menu items, such as the pickled onions and pickled chicken. The restaurant offers both dine-in and takeout options and operates on a self-service basis. This is definitely going to be my regular spot whenever I'm craving curry.

Curious About New Japanese Curry Spot
I checked out a new Japanese curry spot that recently opened near my place out of curiosity. The ordering process was via a machine, and most things were self-service. The atmosphere was cozy and very clean. Food came out so fast. However, the part that disappointed me the most was the flavor. I was already aware from other reviews that the portions were small and the prices were high, so I was prepared for that. But the taste itself fell short. The carrots in the curry weren’t fully cooked, and the chicken drumstick didn’t absorb much of the curry sauce, making it feel a bit bland. I ordered spice level 8, and while it's not extremely hot for those who love spicy food, it has a nice mild kick. If you prefer lighter seasoning and enjoy more subtle flavors, you might like it. But if you’re someone who likes bold, strong flavors, I wouldn’t recommend it.

Worth a Try for Spicy Food Lovers
My experience at this restaurant was quite positive, especially regarding the food quality, which I rated a 5 out of 5. If you enjoy spicy food, you'll find it pretty good here. The atmosphere was also excellent, receiving a 5 out of 5. While the food was good, I found the pricing to be a bit high for the type of food offered, in my opinion. However, it's definitely worth a try for your own opinion.

Disappointing Hokkaido Soup Curry
I wanted to like this place as I’m a big fan of Hokkaido soup curry, but the soup curry here doesn’t taste authentic to me. AFAIK, the Hokkaido soup curry should have a clear broth and a very complex spice blend. The curry from this spot tastes more like a diluted version of regular Japanese style curry and lacks that delightful/appetizing aftertaste, so I get saturated quickly. Also, the rice I got was probably from the bottom of the rice cooker; half of it was dry and crusty, and the rest wasn’t chewy either. The atmosphere was a 5, and service was a 4, but the food score was a 3.

Flavorful Soup Curry with a Greasy Touch
My experience at the restaurant involved ordering the chicken leg and pork katsu soup curry, both at level 10 spiciness. Both curries were flavorful and offered a satisfying spiciness. However, I found the curries and vegetables to be a bit excessively oily. As this was my first time trying soup curry, I'm unsure if this is typical. Overall, I believe soup curry is definitely a great food to try and see if you like it!
