Disappointing Peruvian Sandwich Experience
My experience at this restaurant was solely focused on their pork sandwich (pan con chicharrón), as I did not try any other dishes. Unfortunately, the sandwich was not a good representation of the traditional Peruvian sandwich. Firstly, the bread was dried and crispy on the outside, likely due to being warmed in a mini oven, whereas traditional preparation uses fresh, untoasted bread.
Secondly, the sweet potatoes were boiled instead of fried, which significantly impacts their texture and flavor. The onions (salsa criolla) lacked flavor, missing salt, Peruvian yellow ají, and crucially, key limes which are essential for softening and cooking the onions. The pork itself was just okay, with little flavor, suggesting insufficient seasoning like salt, cumin, garlic, or bay leaves.
While I didn't sample other food, the sandwiches here do not reflect authentic Peruvian cooking, which likely requires more time and effort to prepare correctly.

Delicious Desserts and Perfect Ceviche!
My experience at this restaurant was fantastic! I ordered pickup and was initially disappointed that the key lime pie ice cream was unavailable. However, Guillermo was incredibly kind and offered me samples of the other two flavors, both of which were absolutely delicious.
It's clear his wife, a pastry chef, makes them from scratch. The ceviche limeño was literally perfection; I loved it so much! I will definitely be back to try other dishes here.

Amazing Peruvian Christmas Vibes!
My experience at this restaurant was wonderful. The atmosphere was incredibly festive and felt very Christmasy and Peruvian. We enjoyed the ceviche and the tallarin a la huancaina con Lomo, which my boyfriend and I both loved.
Towards the end of our meal, a staff member offered us samples of their ice creams. We tried the passion fruit and alfajor flavors. Both were great, but the passion fruit was truly amazing, amazing.
My boyfriend also loved the passion fruit ice cream.

Amazing Peruvian Food and Service!
I had an amazing experience dining at the Peruvian Spot! I ordered the Inka Asada and it was SUPER delicious! The meat was incredibly juicy, and their creams are top.
(Love them). The Chaufa rice was flavorful, the Pan con Chicharrón was very tasty, and the service from the staff was super exceptional. The place was spotless, and the restroom was immaculate (it even had mouthwash with one time use).
They also have a play area for kids, which my daughters loved. The wait time was minimal, and everything was fresh and delicious. Highly recommended!

My experience here was amazing! I highly recommend everyone try it at least once, and probably much more than once lol. Guillermo provided awesome customer service and was fun to talk to.

Mixed Feelings on Peruvian Flavors
My experience at the restaurant was a mix of hits and misses. The Ceviche was good, but the sweet potato served with it seemed to have come from frozen, which was not ideal. The Aji de gallina was just okay; it looked reheated and not very appealing, also appearing to be a frozen portion.
On a positive note, the Anticuchos had great flavor. While the quantity of meat in the three pieces per stick was acceptable, the size of the pieces was very poor. Overall, the experience felt pricy and not entirely worth it.

Not Authentic Peruvian Cuisine
As someone who has worked alongside talented Peruvian chefs and deeply appreciates authentic Peruvian flavors, I was genuinely excited to try this place. Unfortunately, it was a major letdown. The food lacked any resemblance to the vibrant, bold flavors I know and love.
We ordered medium-spicy ceviche, Papa a la Huancaína, and shrimp causa, all of which tasted bland, stale, and far from fresh. Even the fries for our daughter were undercooked. The setup felt more like a fast-food joint than a restaurant celebrating Peruvian culture, with paper plates, bowls, and self-service at the register, reminding me of McDonald's but without the consistency.
We ended up tossing everything and driving to Del Mar, which was a breath of fresh air – flavorful, beautifully presented, and worth every penny. This was a complete waste of time and money. If you’ve ever had real Peruvian food, you’ll understand why this place misses the mark entirely.

Great Peruvian Food, Some Service Hiccups
My experience at the restaurant was a mix of great food and some service issues. The service was great, and the food was delicious. However, they were out of the first two items I wanted to order.
The portion size on the pasta dish was disappointing, with almost all pasta and very little meat and veggies. On a positive note, the Lomo Saltado was awesome, which makes me want to return to try more. I'm just happy to have great Peruvian food around!

Best Chicharron and Kid-Friendly Spot!
I absolutely love this place! Even though I'm not from San Diego, it's always my first stop whenever I travel there. They serve the best chicharron I've ever had.
Plus, they have a play area for your kids, which is fantastic because you can eat while they play. I've also tried their alfajores and empanadas, and they are sooooo good. I highly recommend this spot!
