Awkward Atmosphere, Okay Food
My experience at this restaurant was mixed. The food was okay, and the general vibe was that of a normal Seattle café. However, the owner shouting at employees in front of customers was a significant dealbreaker. This behavior created an awkward, unprofessional, and stressful environment. It's evident there's high turnover, and I won't be returning. The only positive note was the bartender at the pub, who provided the only welcoming energy in the place.

Uncomfortable Atmosphere, Okay Food
My experience at this restaurant was quite uncomfortable due to the owner or manager yelling at employees in front of customers. It seemed like they always had new staff, except for the bartender and manager. Dining in a place where employees are openly berated and abused made for a really uncomfortable atmosphere. The food was fine, but it wasn't worth witnessing employees being screamed at. I hope the employees find better jobs or the owner gets a wake-up call. Overall, it was a really bizarre experience.

Service Issues Overshadow Serviceable Food
I've stopped in a few times over the past months. The food is serviceable, and the space feels like a standard Seattle café. What stood out, unfortunately, was the way the owner speaks to staff — a raised voice, harsh tone, and public reprimands in front of customers. This creates an uneasy atmosphere and explains the constant rotation of employees. It's not a place I'll continue visiting.

Excellent Soup and Service by the Window
My experience at the restaurant was excellent. I had a cup of avgolemno soup which was served with warm pita bread. It was the perfect amount and tasted excellent. The service was friendly and helpful. I also enjoyed sitting by the windows, which provided a lot of natural light and contributed to a pleasant atmosphere.

Disappointing Experience with Owner's Behavior
I make an effort to support local cafés, but this establishment didn't meet my expectations. While the food is decent and the atmosphere could be pleasant, the owner's habit of openly berating staff in front of customers created a disrespectful and uncomfortable environment. The frequent employee turnover is also a concern, making it difficult to feel motivated to support this business.

Great Pub with Excellent Food and Atmosphere
My experience at this pub was fantastic! It boasts a laid-back atmosphere and a beautiful space, making it a truly enjoyable place to be. The food was also great, offering a wide variety of options. I particularly enjoyed the hummus and the fries, which were excellent.

A Unique Spot with Great Vibes
I had a fantastic experience at this place, which uniquely combines a library, a cafe, and an underground pub. It was chosen for a date, and I absolutely loved it. We spent most of our time in the cafe and then moved to the pub after the cafe closed. The service staff were all incredibly kind. Even when I ordered just water, the pub staff didn't seem annoyed, which was appreciated as I don't drink. The pub also offers boardgames, adding to the enjoyable atmosphere. I can't wait to visit again!

Awful Service, Won't Return
My experience at this restaurant was the worst customer service experience I've had, and it reminds me of why I dislike visiting Seattle. I suggest you educate your employees on how to care for customers. Specifically, they should learn not to raise their voices at patrons and perhaps not to remove them from the dining area when it's not busy on a Monday. Customers are paying a premium for food and beverages. I will not be returning.

Friendly Staff, Delicious Food, Homey Feel
My experience at this restaurant was overwhelmingly positive. The staff were super friendly, and the food was really good. I enjoyed the baba ganoush and fish & chips. I especially loved the dip and pita. The fish and chips were incredibly fresh and crispy. The restaurant itself had a lovely homey feel. I would definitely come back to try the mac and cheese, as it looked delicious! Sadly, I didn't get a photo because I was too hungry and ate it all : (

Cozy Bookstore Cafe with Great Coffee & Food
I've been a loyal customer for years, ever since college, and continue to visit. The coffee is great, the food is good, and it's a wonderfully cozy local spot to unwind within one of my favorite bookstores. It's also incredibly convenient that their hours are perfect for anyone with classes or needing a place for remote work. The owner, her family, and the employees are all incredibly sweet, demonstrably hard-working, and always a pleasure to chat with. I wholeheartedly recommend supporting this little spot that significantly contributes to making Roosevelt such a fantastic place to be! They offer a play area for families and have vegetarian options available. The noise level is pleasant, with just the gentle hum of people chatting. It's also wheelchair/powerchair accessible, and the bookstore area provides internet and outlets.
