Great Variety of Soft Serve and More!
My experience at this restaurant was fantastic! I was impressed by the wide variety of options available, especially the soft serve ice cream. Beyond ice cream, they also offer a great selection of snacks, juice, wine, beer, and even Ethiopian coffee and spices.
The food and atmosphere were both rated a perfect 5, and the service also received a 5-star rating. Parking was a breeze with a free parking lot and plenty of parking space. The price per person is very affordable, ranging from $1–$10.

Simple, Delicious Soft Serve Secret
You would never know that this little deli/convenience store tucked away in the Central District sells delicious soft serve ice cream in the summertime. These are your standard, no-fuss soft serve, and I love them. They have a creamy and light texture, are not overly sweet, and come with no hefty outrageous prices.
I think they cost $4/cone. The size in the photo is a small, which is plenty big enough for me. I'm a bit of a soft serve junkie, and some of the places I've been to recently include Indigo Cow, The Pastry Project, MOTO Pizza, and Temple Pastries' new ice cream and sandwich shop.
Out of all of them, I think King's Deli has the best because it's simple and unfussy. And the price can't be beat. The atmosphere is nothing special, but that's OK by me.
One caveat: be sure to call them before you go just to make sure the soft serve machine is ON. Sometimes when I've stopped by, they haven't turned the machine on yet, and I have to come back, though in the summertime, it's usually on all the time. It's a hot tip secret and I aim to change that 😎.

Good Chicken and Jojos, Worth the Visit
My experience at this restaurant was a pleasant surprise, as the chicken is still good even after years of not visiting. It was nice to see they survived the gentrification. I got 3 big wings and 3 Jojos for $7.
50. Next time, I'm ordering extra Jojos with ranch. They also have big $2.
50 beef and veggie sambusas that I need to try. I do think they should add jalapeno poppers to the menu. The staff is very nice.

Reliable Corner Store for Family Favorites
My family and I have been frequenting this family-owned corner store for two years, and it's become a reliable spot for us. We've never had any issues with expired goods. They serve up delicious hot tenders, JoJo's, chicken wings, and corn dogs.
What's great is their diverse grocery selection, which includes items for Ethiopian cuisine like lentils, teas, and spices, alongside American snacks such as Doritos, Grandma's cookies, and Faygo.

Friendly staff, no phone signal
Everyone was friendly and helpful, but you better hope you don't need to use your phone while there. Absolutely no signal available.

Disappointing Change in Quality
This place used to have amazing chicken and jojo's. And now it doesn't. I'm told they've been sold to new owners and it isn't the same.
Don't bother going in here for really anything.

Concerns about in-store health practices
My experience at the restaurant raised concerns about the current health and safety protocols. I would recommend that all employees wear masks and gloves to help keep the community healthy during this pandemic. The 6 feet rule should be applied, and there should be no large gatherings inside the store.
It might be best for patrons to practice social distancing inside the establishment.

New Owners Lack Customer Service
My experience with the new owners was disappointing. They are not for the people of the community and lack any customer service, especially when they make a mistake and overcharge a loyal customer. I recommend no one support these money-hungry new owners.

Great Neighborhood Deli with Hard-Working Staff
My experience at this deli has been consistently positive. It's one of the best neighborhoods deli's in the Central District. I visit both during my lunch breaks and after work.
The staff are good, hard-working Africans who are dedicated to their business. The great chicken is a standout.
