Good Banh Mi, But Pricey
My experience at Banh Mi King was a mixed bag. The banh mi itself was good, though the bread could have been softer, which I suspect was due to getting it late in the day. The portion was satisfactory.
I ordered it to go. However, I wouldn't return primarily due to the pricing. The chicken banh mi was advertised at $11.
75 but the final bill came to $14. 23, and this did not include a tip. While I understand sales tax and a potential health mandate surcharge, the extra cost seemed excessive.
For comparison, Freshroll Vietnamese and Viet Duong on Bush St. offer banh mi of similar size and quality for $9. 75. I had always wanted to try Banh Mi King, but the pricing was simply silly.

Banh Mi King: A Taste of the Past
My experience at Banh Mi King brought me back to the first Banh Mi I ever had, 10 years ago in San Francisco at a place that’s no longer in business. This one was great with the crispy bread; it was very fresh. The food, service, and atmosphere were all rated a perfect 5.

Uncooked Tofu Banh Mi - A Disappointment
My experience at this restaurant was quite disappointing, primarily due to the food. I ordered a banh mi, and the tofu was both uncooked and unseasoned. It seemed like it was only microwaved, as it was warm but lacked any flavor.
I really didn’t enjoy it. : -(

Excellent Food and Service!
My experience at this restaurant was blazing 5*! The 5 spice chicken was incredibly moist and flavorful, with a perfectly balanced taste. I also enjoyed the shrimp spring roll, which was freshly made and not stiff like premade ones.
The accompanying sauce was flavorful, though I personally prefer a bit more peanut. I absolutely loved the window that allowed me to see the fresh, vibrant, and beautiful ingredients. The ladies taking orders and preparing food seemed very kind and nice.
It's a short walk to enjoy lunch while taking in views of the Bay Bridge. I highly recommend this place; it was a great experience overall.

Mediocre Bahn Mi, Not Worth the Price
My experience at this restaurant was highly mediocre. The Bahn Mi was disappointing, with bread that wasn’t fresh. Additionally, there was a small amount of meat for the price.
I will not be visiting again.

Mixed Banh Mi Experience
My experience at this restaurant was based on a single visit where I tried the five spice chicken Banh Mi. The meat was delicious, the cilantro was very fresh, and the pickled carrots were perfect. However, the baguette was a miss, and the cucumber was not fresh and limp. Despite these issues, I left with a happy tummy ☀️ and plan to return to try other menu items and explore more options.
I'm coming back to try again and to give the rest of the menu a look.

Disappointing Beef Stew Experience
My experience at this restaurant was disappointing. While the food was generally tasty, the beef stew was not fresh. I observed staff taking it from the fridge and microwaving it in a plastic container, which I suspect was not microwave-safe.
Due to this issue, I will not be returning.

Fresh Food, But Pricey and Poor Service
My experience at this restaurant was a mixed bag. While the food was fresh, with sandwiches and spring rolls made right in front of me, and the Vietnamese coffee was delicious, the price was very expensive. A standard banh mi sandwich without sides cost $11.
25, and three drinks with a few sandwiches and rolls to go came close to $100. I was particularly disappointed with the peanut sauce served with the spring rolls; it was extremely thin and watered down, lacking taste. It made me wonder if they were trying to cut costs by watering down their sauces, as even the fish sauce seemed watery.
The service was also a challenge; the lady taking our order didn’t speak English, forcing us to use Google Translate. Thankfully, someone else eventually assisted. Next time, I’ll stick with established places like Saigon Sandwich on Larkin.

Obsessed with this Banh Mi!
I’m obsessed with their combination banh mi. This is coming from someone that usually doesn’t like non-traditional banh mi. The meats are perfectly tender and seasoned perfectly.
Love the pate. It's a 10/10 sandwich and very reasonably priced.
