Best Ramen Takeout Experience
We ordered take out and had an excellent experience. The ramen was some of the best in the area. It traveled well and was still warm when it arrived.

Convenient Local Japanese with Hits and Misses
I've dined inside a couple of times a few years ago. Recently, living nearby, I've found ordering online for pickup to be very convenient, with options for ASAP pickup usually taking 20-35 minutes. My favorite dishes have been the cold soba (4. 5/5), which I thoroughly enjoyed and wished there was more of, and the chicken katsu. The hot soba (4/5) was decent but not as good as the cold version. The tempura was good. The chicken katsu curry (4/5) was still good the next day, though the chicken could be crispier for a perfect score. I'd pass on the chicken broth ramen (3/5) as it was greasy/oily and seemed better in the past. The salmon sashimi (3/5) didn't taste as fresh. This is a good spot if I'm craving Japanese food and don't want to travel far, making it great for locals. However, I wouldn't go out of my way for it. Improving their exterior signage could attract more business, as it's not immediately clear that the building is "Miki Restaurant".

Solid Japanese Spot with Fresh Fish
My experience at Miki Japanese on Balboa was a good one. The staff was friendly and the service was efficient, complemented by a casual ambiance. I particularly enjoyed the chirashi bowl, which featured fresh fish atop seasoned rice, perfectly portioned and balanced. The salmon teriyaki and mixed tempura bento was also a strong choice; the salmon was cooked well with a flavorful glaze, and the tempura was crisp without being oily. The bento sides were a nice addition to the meal. Overall, it's a good spot for Japanese food in the neighborhood.

Cozy Spot with Melt-in-Your-Mouth Sushi
I had a great experience at this small cozy spot for sushi. The California roll was so good, the rice literally melted in my mouth. The food was rated a 5, service a 5, and atmosphere a 3.

Great Ramen and Sushi Spot
My experience at this great little spot in the Richmond was very positive. The ramen was really good, and the sushi was like a 4/5. I would highly recommend it. Be aware that they only have about 5 tables, so it's advisable to come early!

Disappointing Decline in Quality
I used to really enjoy this restaurant, but my recent experience left me disappointed. The dishes just didn’t taste the same. The ramen, which was once a favorite, had changed, and the pork didn’t taste fresh. The katsu was soggy, and the rice was overly vinegary. The tempura was decent, but overall, the meal didn’t meet the standard I remember. Spending $80 for three people, we walked away feeling let down. I hope they can bring back the quality that once made this place special.

Disappointing Meal with No Passion
My experience at this restaurant was utterly disappointing. I ordered the shrimp tempura soba combo, which turned out to be salty water with overcooked noodles and a bit of green onion. The shrimp tempura itself was meager, featuring only a single shrimp among some tempura vegetables. I also tried an unagi roll, and to be honest, it could have been fresher. It's baffling to me that a restaurant would serve food with such a clear lack of thought or passion. I would be ashamed to serve this in my own home.

Charming Place with Delicious Food
My experience at this restaurant was very positive. The food was excellent, from the starters to the main dishes. Even simple items like the Edamame were described as really good and tasty. I particularly enjoyed the fried chicken starter, which came with a nice mayonnaise dressing. The ramen was also very good. Portions were generous, so much so that we couldn't finish everything. The service was good, with waiters being particularly helpful in accommodating requests to replace ingredients not on the menu. The atmosphere was charming.

Amazing Udon and Tempura Experience
I love this place because it offers tempura with udon, which feels like a free appetizer. The broth was also amazing.

Delicious Food and Beautiful Presentation
My experience at the restaurant was so delicious! I had the agedashi tofu (stir-fried tofu) and the tonkatsu ramen. My friend ordered the cherry blossom roll, and it was just beautiful.
