Soggy Pizzas, High Price
My partner and I ordered some pizzas to go. The experience was disappointing as the pizzas were soggy and small for the ridiculous high pricing. It was one of the worst pizzas I’ve ever had. We would not return.

Good food, needs better service
My experience at this restaurant was marked by good food, with a perfect score of 5/5. However, I wished the staff could have been kinder and provided more explanations about the strange Italian food. It would be helpful to add short descriptions for the dishes, at least for appetizers and main courses.

Excellent Food and Service at A16
My dinner experience at A16 on Chestnut was fantastic. The staff were incredibly accommodating, even moving our reservation up an hour on a busy Saturday. We also switched tables a couple of times due to the heat near the ovens, and the staff never made us feel like a burden. The vibe is casual but stylish, and we felt comfortable even in our tourist biking clothes. The food was excellent; the salsiccia pizza was one of the best I've had, the orecchiette pasta was fantastic, and the kids loved their butter noodles. The desserts truly stood out, with the tiramisu being the best I've ever had. My wife enjoyed her cannelloni, though it has a hint of lemon, and the kids' vanilla sorbet was a hit. The wine list is strong, and we enjoyed a great Montepulciano. Service was outstanding throughout the night, with plates cleared quickly and waters refilled nonstop. The only minor downside was the meatballs, which were a bit bland compared to everything else. Overall, it was an amazing experience with excellent food and a lively atmosphere.

Disappointing Wait, Okay Food
My experience at this restaurant was marred by a terrible hostess. Despite having a reservation, we had to wait 20 minutes past our scheduled time to be seated. The hostess was not proactive, and we had to follow up twice to inquire about our table. The restaurant did not offer any compensation, like a complementary appetizer, for the extended wait. On a positive note, our waitress was nice. The food was just okay; it wasn't the best but also not the worst.

Mind-Blowing Sicilian Red Sauce!
My experience at this restaurant was fantastic for a date night during our trip to SF. I was absolutely blown away by the red sauce, which tasted just like my Sicilian mother makes. We chose to sit outside, and while it was a bit more bustling than anticipated, our server was incredibly attentive and friendly. The Lambrusco was also amazing. Our server did a great job of pointing out any differences in the drinks and food compared to other Italian spots. Unfortunately, we were too full for dessert, but we will definitely be back for that incredible sauce.

Authentic Italian with a Great Wine List
My experience at this restaurant was fantastic! I enjoyed the real deal Italian food, which was truly authentic. The wine list was impressive, featuring only the best Italian wines. The staff were knowledgeable, and I even had the pleasure of interacting with the famous wine guru, Shelly L. The restaurant itself is beautiful and surprisingly spacious, larger than it appears from the outside. The noise level can vary depending on the crowd size and where you're seated, but overall, it was a great dining experience.

Solid Pizza Base, Unique Toppings
My experience at this restaurant was centered around their pizza. It's definitely a pizza place, and I personally wouldn't get anything else here. They use flour and water without cornmeal, resulting in an incredibly solid base to the pizza. The anchovy pizza is my favorite, though it's very salty. The corn pizza was surprisingly tasty. However, I wouldn't call the meat on it prosciutto.

Michelin Guide Disappointment: Poor Food and Service
My brother and a colleague dined here on Tuesday, July 22nd, 2025. We chose this restaurant due to its Michelin guide listing, expecting a good meal. Upon arrival, the atmosphere was cozy and inviting, with soft lighting and Tuscan farmhouse decor. However, our experience quickly soured as we noticed the entire restaurant, inside and out, was filled with screaming children. This was visibly disturbing to other guests, including us. The parents were never addressed by the staff, and the situation was handled very poorly by the staff regarding the comfort of other diners. When our food arrived, both my Rigatoncini and my brother's Maccaronara were underwhelming and bland. The pasta did not seem fresh in flavor or texture, and the sauces were bland and acidic with no complexity. My brother's colleague ordered the Newman Farm Pork Chop, which, for $50, was described as 'dry' and 'lackluster'. Our overall dining experience was memorable only for the profound disappointment. I believe this restaurant should be removed from the Michelin Guide to prevent others from enduring a similar nightmare.

Charming Ambiance, Disappointing Pizza
My experience at this restaurant was a mix of delightful ambiance and surprising food choices. The ambience is truly charming and carefully designed, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere with a modern Italian style that really stands out. However, I was a bit surprised by the pizza selection and especially the pricing. I was expecting something more faithful to traditional Italian pizza. The dough itself is excellent, but the pizzas are too Americanized for my taste. A Margherita topped with Parmesan (even when not listed on the menu), or options overloaded with garlic, miss the mark for anyone seeking authenticity. It would be great to see classic Italian style pizzas included as standard options, not just add-ons that raise the price. Another issue was the oven: the pizza base was completely blackened, which not only made it unhealthy, but also gave it an unpleasant burnt flavor. The oven needs proper maintenance.
