My experience at this restaurant was a mixed bag. The food was great, truly a highlight. However, the host was terrible, exhibiting passive-aggressive behavior that was through the roof. While the food was excellent, the service from the host significantly detracted from the overall experience.

Red Window is a bustling North Beach establishment, situated on the hill of Columbus and occupying one of the area's most vibrant corners. The restaurant offers a few outdoor seats and a lean-to style covered section that has a dated feel. Sitting outside can be quite windy, even during summer, so it's advisable to consider this when choosing a table. Inside, the atmosphere is energetic, though the decor is a bit eclectic and doesn't quite achieve the intended boho look. The service is where Red Window truly excels: the hostess was fantastic, incredibly welcoming and clearly the face of the venue, and the entire staff was polite and efficient. The food and drink are generally average, typical mid-level tourist fare, but the overall energy of the place and the quality of the service elevate the experience. The patatas bravas were presented in an unusual style, resembling wafer-thin duck-fat potatoes, twice-cooked and neatly shaped. While this approach worked fine, it might not appeal to Spanish purists. The best reason to visit? On Friday and Saturday nights, they feature a funk band at the front, which is a brilliant addition and significantly enhances the perceived value of the visit.

While the sangria wasn't my favorite, their al pastor marg was solid, and I appreciated the generous wine pours. The service was rated a 5, and the food a 4, with atmosphere at a 4. It was a dinner visit with no wait time.

This was a lovely date night spot with delicious tapas. We enjoyed the Brussels sprouts, Mac and cheese, and the patatas bravas. We also shared the short rib, which was incredibly flavorful and a generous portion. The value was very good, and we left feeling stuffed!

Come to the busy part of North Beach and just soak it in. You can hang out on the patio here to listen to the tourist and locals walk by. The staff is great, friendly, and passionate. The drinks are fun, boozy, and easy to drink. The food is easy to eat, share, and hard to be disappointed with. Bring a date here, your parents, whoever – it’s just a great vibe. We had so much fun.
