Mushrooms need improvement
My experience at this restaurant was okay for a quick bite. However, the person responsible for chopping the mushrooms needs to be fired. Twice, I received mushrooms that were not chopped and were essentially raw.
This significantly impacted the food quality.

Favorite Malatang Spot in SF
This is hands down my favorite spot for Malatang in San Francisco. They’ve got tons of options, and the broth choices are amazing. I’m hooked on the Sichuan spicy broth — super flavorful and seriously satisfying.
Just a tip: if you don’t eat a lot of spicy food, check with the staff before ordering because it can get pretty hot. But if you love spice, this is the place to go. Ordering is easy, the selection of meats and veggies is huge, and it’s perfect for nights when I don’t feel like cooking.
The staff are always friendly, the vibe is calm and relaxed, and the prices are very reasonable. In a busy city like San Francisco, it’s rare to find somewhere that’s both quiet and delicious — this place checks all the boxes.

Excellent Broth and Service!
My experience at this restaurant was fantastic. My mom's broth was initially too spicy for her, but the staff proactively provided a mild broth without us even having to ask. The people were nice, and the food was great.
I especially enjoyed the Kimchi broth, which was amazing. Overall, a very positive dining experience.

Excellent Malatang Experience
I finally decided to try this restaurant after seeing it a few times, and it truly did not disappoint. For those unfamiliar with malatang, you select your ingredients and soup base, and the staff cooks it for you. Everything looked quite fresh.
I opted for beef and lamb with ramen noodles in a pork bone broth. After paying a little under $15, I discovered the unexpected bonus of free drinks: water, jasmine tea, and a grapefruit juice drink. The tea was hot and perfectly brewed.
I created a reliable sauce mix of soy sauce, sesame paste, and garlic. My order was ready in about five minutes. The food was cooked exceptionally well: the broccoli retained a slight crunch, the fried tofu was not soggy, and the ramen noodles were still delightfully chewy.
The meats were all tender, and the broth itself had a rich, satisfying flavor. I left feeling full and found the restroom to be squeaky clean and smelling fresh. This is an excellent place to get malatang, and the price ($14.
99/lb) is comparable to other establishments in the city. I'm sure their menu items are good too.

Good Malatang for the Price
My experience at this restaurant was positive, especially considering the price point and location. While I'm not usually a huge fan of Chinese food in San Francisco, this place was surprisingly good. The Malatang was a highlight, and I'd recommend it.
The food received a perfect score, and the service and atmosphere were also rated highly. It's a decent option for dinner.

Underrated Hot Pot Gem
My experience at this restaurant was a five-star dining experience, especially if you enjoy hot pot. The food was amazing, truly underrated. While the ambience was not a ton, it was cozy.
The service was basic but friendly and helpful.

Fresh Ingredients and Great Variety!
My experience at the restaurant was delicious! I loved the concept, and all the ingredients were fresh. There was a ton of variety, and the final cooked soup was great.
It's also reasonably priced, provided you don't go too crazy. I opted for the green peppercorn broth with lamb, lotus, cabbage, and lots of mushrooms. I will definitely come back here to try all the other varieties.

Delicious Malatang, Great Value in SF
This place is a genuine gem in the sunset! It opens late, until 10 pm, which is perfect for chilly nights when you're craving a hot bowl of soup. The price is by weight at $14.
99/lb, but you can definitely get less than a pound and still have plenty. So, if you're only craving a small bite, this spot is great. Notable favorites include the wide vermicelli glass noodle, a decent sauce bar with options like garlic, sesame paste, black vinegar, and green onion, and complimentary free iced oolong tea.
The beef rolls, cow throat, and pork tendon were also highlights. I love hotpot, and to have a huge bowl of tomato broth with all my favorite things for $12, and a plate of duck wings for $3, is unheard of in SF. QingShu's has got you covered.
