Formerly Great Place, Now Disappointing
My experience at this restaurant has unfortunately changed significantly over the past decade. It used to be one of the best in the city, with long lines of customers, consistently fresh and delicious food, and reasonable prices. However, all of that is now a distant memory.
The food is no longer delicious or fresh. I was prepared to find smelly shrimp in my rice or noodle dish, or soy sauce chicken that would spoil overnight in my fridge. The long lines are gone, and while prices are high, they are comparable to other places.
Sadly, this is another formerly great establishment that has lost its way, at least for me.

Decades of Loyalty, Years of Decline
I've been a loyal customer since this restaurant first opened decades ago. Unfortunately, I've witnessed a significant decline in quality over the last few years. My recent visit yesterday, after a couple of unsatisfactory experiences, confirmed this downward trend.
At 1: 00 PM, they were out of BBQ pork. I was told it would be ready in 5 minutes, but it ended up being a 30-minute wait. Instead of the generous racks of BBQ pork from the past, only a pan with about 2 pounds emerged.
When I requested 1-1/2 pounds of lean pork, the staff member grabbed a large, jiggly piece, assuring me it was lean, which it clearly was not. This was confirmed upon getting home.

Decent BBQ, Not the Best
A lot of locals say this place has the best Hong Kong style barbecue meats in the city, so I had to make a visit and see for myself. Upon arrival, the lines were out of the door, which made me wonder if the claims were true. However, it turned out there was only one person chopping meat for all the customers, and the store is very compact, limiting the waiting space inside.
They offer a variety of items including roast duck, chicken, soy sauce chicken, char siu, roast pork, and wok-fresh dishes. Previously, they had dine-in, but after Covid, it's strictly takeaway only. When it was my turn to order, I went with my usual choice, roast duck, as it's a good indicator of quality.
Unfortunately, the skin was only semi-crispy, the meat was slightly warm, and the ratio of fat to meat was quite high. To conclude, based on people's opinions and my own experience, this is definitely not the best Hong Kong barbecue shop in the city. I know where the best one is, and most people agree with my opinion.
On a positive note, the staff were welcoming and well-trained, which made my visit an issue-free one. I would recommend this place if you're in need of a quick bite, are on a limited time, or if you live nearby. I might return in the future to try out their other offerings.

Dishonest Service, Terrible Food
My experience at this restaurant was marked by dishonesty and poor food quality. When I inquired about purchasing half a pound of food, I was told it was possible. However, at the point of payment, I was informed of a $9 minimum for that type of box, which felt like a deceptive practice.
The fact that they only accept cash further raised concerns about their tax compliance. The food itself, as depicted in the accompanying picture, was unappetizing. I ended up throwing the entire meal away upon arriving home.
I will not be returning to this establishment.

A San Francisco Roasted Duck Favorite
My family's #1 choice for roasted duck in San Francisco for over 30 years! The food was exceptional, earning a perfect 5/5. While the atmosphere was rated a 3/5, the overall experience was clearly dominated by the outstanding food quality.
Service was also a strong point, with no wait time and a good rating.

Disappointing Roast Pork Experience
My experience at the restaurant was not a good one. The roast pork was salty and lacked the expected crunchiness. It was also served very cold, which was quite disappointing.
The roast duck was just okay, not particularly good.

Favorite Chinese in Outer Richmond
Our experience at this Chinese restaurant in the Outer Richmond District was fantastic. We found the prices to be reasonable, and the dim sum was great. The comfort food options were also excellent, and the menu was huge!
We highly recommend this spot.
