Cute Atmosphere, Rude Service
My experience at this restaurant was mixed. While the atmosphere was cute, the coffee was just okay, described as "kinda mid. " A significant downside was that they charge for wifi.
The service was particularly disappointing; a male employee displayed a bad attitude when I inquired about the bathroom. This rude service really ruined the overall experience, and I will probably never visit again.

Disappointing Experience with Burnt Bagel
I rarely write reviews, but my experience at this restaurant was not good. They burnt my bagel, and the smoothie I ordered was just kind of mid. While the place itself is cute, the service was also subpar.
The two employees I interacted with had poor attitudes. I had hoped for a positive experience, but unfortunately, I did not.

Blue Danube: A Timeless Favorite
My experience at Blue Danube has been consistently awesome for the past 20 years. It remains a fantastic place for coffee, breakfast, lunch, meeting up with friends, or even getting some work done. The quality and atmosphere have not changed, which is truly commendable.

Artsy coffee shop with offbeat charm
With an artsy flare and an eclectic mix of patrons, the Blue Danube Coffee House is right at home in the Inner Richmond District. I had a business trip to the Bay Area and needed time before dinner to decompress over a cup of coffee. The quirkiness of Blue Danube pulled me in.
They offered a variety of brewed and non-brewed beverages, with an equally abundant selection of pastries and food options. If you want a taste of the offbeat, drop by and get your people-watch on while enjoying a cup of coffee.

Cozy cafe for work and chill
I just stumbled upon this cozy, whimsical, and small cafe. The coffee was good, and the staff was friendly. It's a nice place for study and work, and maybe just to chill.

Charming Local Gem with Great Atmosphere
My experience at Blue Danube was wonderful. Unlike places focused on free WiFi, this café offers a genuine space to sit, eat, relax with a beverage, and enjoy activities like reading or people-watching. It's a place where people are truly engaged, reading real books, enjoying meals and conversations, and being present.
Blue Danube is incredibly charming and stands out as a local, one-and-only place, not a cookie-cutter chain. The atmosphere makes you feel like you're in a vibrant cultural hub like Berkeley, the Latin Quarter of Paris, or eclectic Vienna, with its miss-matched tables and colorful, eclectic décor. The food was tasty, and the hot drinks were indeed Hot(!), which is perfect for the chilly Richmond neighborhood.
I also appreciate that they employed their regular and student staff during the pandemic, which is meaningful. As a family-owned business that supports its neighborhood, it deserves our support.

Rude Service, Low Vibes
My experience at this restaurant was marked by rude service and low vibes. I was met with upset reactions when I inquired if gloves were used for my juice. Additionally, another staff member was impolite when I asked for the bathroom, stating "customers only.
" I was attempting to ascertain bathroom availability before making a purchase.

Wifi Charged - Avoid This Place
I wanted to have breakfast and review my emails. When I was ordering, I asked for the WIFI code and guess what! ?
They charge to use their Wifi network. The cashier was super ashamed and told me “unfortunately we charge for the wifi”. There are more cafes around with complimentary wifi to their customers.
So, avoid this place.
