Antique store smell and broken speaker music
My experience at this restaurant was quite unpleasant. The place had a strong smell reminiscent of an antique store with moldy clothes. Furthermore, the music played by the DJ sounded like a loud broken speaker, which significantly detracted from the atmosphere.

Amazing Meatloaf Sandwich!
My experience at this restaurant was fantastic. The spot offers a great selection of both non-alcoholic and regular beers. Although I wasn't drinking this visit, the cocktails looked impressive. I tried the meatloaf sandwich and it was absolutely amazing. I'm eager to return and explore more of their food offerings.

Fun Local Bar with Great Food & Drinks
My experience at this local bar was really fun! I enjoyed the good food and cocktails, and they also had good beers on tap. Trivia on Tuesdays 🥰. The atmosphere and service were both rated 5/5, and they even have live music for special events.

Great Neighborhood Pub Addition
What a great addition to the neighborhood! This lively pub offers a fantastic American Classic menu. The kids will enjoy the movies on the wall, and there's live music and a back patio. The service was fantastic, friendly, and competent. I also enjoyed the great local beers. The burger was the best I've had in a long time (though I currently live in Mexico).

Disappointing and Overpriced Meal
My experience at this restaurant was disappointing. I ate the food because I was hungry, but it was disappointing and overpriced. I miss the Broken Record, but I won't write this place off yet. Maybe better luck next time.

A Happy Hour Haven After House Hunting
After a demanding day of house hunting in San Francisco, I stumbled upon The Halfway Club, a place that felt like a gift. The atmosphere is intimate, with a cozy bar area and a larger back space perfect for watching the game, plus a sunny outdoor patio. The decor is a charming mix of dive bar nostalgia and eclectic clutter, complete with old concert posters and a unique mini-library of cocktail history. I started with the Wisconsin Old Fashioned, a smooth, sweet, and potent drink. For food, the BLT Dog was a standout – a delicious combination of crispy bacon, fresh tomatoes, a killer sauce, and a perfectly snapped dog, served with excellent waffle fries. The menu offers intriguing options like Crab Rangoon Deviled Eggs and the Alaska Cocktail. The service was genuinely friendly, fast, and chill, making me feel welcomed. I even returned twice in a week. Even if I don't buy a house nearby, I'll definitely be returning to The Halfway Club for its great food, drinks, and hospitality.

Potential but Overpriced Food
This place has so much potential, and I want to see it succeed. However, it's hard for me to justify going back regularly because the food is very overpriced for what it is. As a Chicagoan born and raised, paying $16 for a Chicago hot dog felt especially outrageous. While it's a gourmet hot dog, I wouldn't say it's special enough to warrant that price point. Similarly, a burger costs $22. The menu is also very heavy and fried; I wish there were a couple more lighter options available. I do appreciate that they are kid friendly, have live music, and offer a very easygoing, chill vibe. The food sadly does not match the price point. I go because I want to support a local business and appreciate that they're family-oriented. Check it out, but be prepared to spend $$$.

Wisconsin Native's Delightful Discovery
As someone from Wisconsin, I was STOKED to try this place. My experience included the French Onion Mac and Cheese, which I rated 7/10, noting it could benefit from a more complex cheese sauce to balance the onion flavor. The Crab Rangoon Deviled Eggs were a standout, earning a perfect 10/10 – I could have eaten a whole plate! The Mezcal Paloma was fantastic. I was a bit surprised by the Wisconsin Old Fashioned; it wasn't muddled and didn't have sweet soda, leaning more towards a KY Old Fashioned with cordials and brandy instead of bourbon. As a 20-year veteran bartender, this was a slight disappointment due to my expectation of a traditional WI old fashioned, but it was delicious nonetheless, just a bit misleading in name. I had to adjust my expectations to an IL style old fashioned, which made sense given the staff's origins. Regardless, the flavor profile was delightful. The service was a little slow and seemed more focused on regulars, which we understood. However, we ultimately left before ordering more drinks because we waited too long with empty glasses. Despite the service hiccup, it's a must-see, must-stop, and I'm excited to have this place in the neighborhood.
