Disappointing Sweet Flavors and Overpriced Mezze
I was looking forward to trying this place but was a bit disappointed. All the dishes we had were a bit too sweet, including the dips. The mezze plate with different dips was good, but definitely overpriced at $36 given the small portion and few crackers provided. We were charged for extra crackers after asking for more. The chicken was good, but not amazing. I don’t think I will go back.

A Delightful First Taste of Iran
This was my first experience at an Iranian restaurant, and I have no regrets; I would return in a heartbeat. I loved the interior of Komaaj, it felt like someone's house or living room, very inviting and cozy. We tried two dishes: their mezze platter for two and the turmeric chicken over pomegranate rice. On the platter, every dish was special, with the only letdown being the bread, which tasted a bit like an old cracker. I wish they offered different options, perhaps even fresh baguette. The olives were out of this world, and the smokey eggplant was simply divine. The chicken was amazing, falling off the bone and perfectly complementing the rice. Overall, it was a really good experience. The wine, their Armenian reds, took a bit of getting used to; I wouldn't rave about them, but it was an interesting try. Kudos to the chef and team; I will certainly come back.

Authentic Northern Iranian Flavors in the Bay!
My experience at Komaj was truly the real deal for Northern Iranian food in the Bay Area. I had heard about it previously but never had the chance to try it. Finally making it yesterday, I can say it was totally worth the wait. If you're craving Shomali flavors or want something unique, this spot delivers big time. I highly recommend bringing your American friends to experience Persian food; it's the kind of food they'll never forget – authentic, flavorful, and truly unique. I'm already planning my next trip back to dive into the rest of the menu. Can't wait! 😍

Spectacular Authentic North Iranian Food!
My experience at this beautiful restaurant was spectacular and truly enjoyable. We savored authentic North Iranian food, and the Motanjan (chicken) dish was a standout, bursting with flavor and deeply impressive. The drinks were also refreshing and great. The service was equally top-notch, thanks to Nazanin.

Lovely Dinner, Take Your Time
I recently had a lovely dinner experience at this restaurant for the first time. Everything we tried was delicious, and the ambiance was wonderfully warm. The service was truly top-notch; our server was very knowledgeable about wines from the region and provided excellent recommendations. While it wasn't a quick meal, as our main course arrived quite a while after our mezze, we actually found it nice to luxuriate over the meal. I'd recommend this place for a lovely dinner, just be sure to plan for a leisurely experience.

Decent Food, Overpriced
My experience at the restaurant was mixed. The food quality was decent, but I found the pricing to be nonsensical and significantly overpriced.

Tasty Food, Great Service, High Prices
My experience at this restaurant was largely positive, with the food being a standout. It was very tasty, featuring fresh produce and a perfect balance of sweet and savory flavors. The service was also great and the staff were kid friendly. However, the prices were a significant negative point; they were very expensive, feeling like too much even for San Francisco. The atmosphere was quiet and conducive to conversation, and parking was somewhat difficult to find, though free street parking was available. There was no wait time, and the restaurant offers a large vegetarian selection, making it highly recommended for vegetarians.

Impressive Lunch at Komaaj Pila Bazaar
My experience at Komaaj Pila Bazaar for lunch was seriously impressive. The chicken pomegranate rice bowl was a standout dish, described as rich and flavorful, with chicken so tender it practically fell off the bone. The chickpea rice bowl (vegan) was equally delicious, hearty, and well-seasoned. Both rice bowls were served with a generous portion of lightly dressed romaine lettuce salad, topped with radishes and parsley, which provided a fresh, crisp balance. The non-alcoholic drink selection was refreshing and creative. I particularly enjoyed the lemon verbena iced tea, which was perfectly balanced and satisfying, and the mint and vinegar iced tea, which was surprisingly delicious and refreshing. The service was friendly and inviting, enhancing the overall experience. I highly recommend Komaaj Pila Bazaar for a casual, flavorful, and comforting meal in a nicely decorated setting.
