Unique Dive Bar with Decent Ethiopian Food
As a dive bar combined with an Ethiopian restaurant, Waziema offers a unique and welcome experience in the city. It's a place that has been around for a while, and seeing it still thriving brings a sense of gladness. While it might not serve the absolute best Ethiopian food in San Francisco, the quality is decent.
It stands out as a good neighborhood option when you're looking for a less formal meal or simply a drink.

Nice Vibe, Will Return for Food
I stumbled upon this restaurant/venue thanks to a Cinco de Mayo event flyer 😮. The atmosphere was nice, and I will definitely come back for the restaurant part next time.

Consistently Bad Ethiopian Food
My experience at this restaurant was consistently disappointing. The Ethiopian food was the worst I've ever had. I've tried it again every 6 or 7 years, and it's reliably bad.
The food quality received a score of 1, and the service and atmosphere both received scores of 2.

Uninspired Spices and Just Okay Injera
My experience at the restaurant was a bit disappointing. The spices were a little uninspired at the medium level, and the injera was only okay. Overall, the food quality was not up to par.

Great Ethiopian Food, Needs Better Signage
First of all, this place needs to have a better sign out front and a way of letting patrons know they serve food. I walked in here while bar hopping a while ago, and I had zero idea this place served food at night; I thought it must have been a daytime thing because it is technically a bar. There was nothing noticeable inside that showed they serve one of the best Ethiopian food in San Francisco.
The food, as I mentioned, is great, and the service is good enough for a bar. It was quite empty when I walked in, maybe that's why the atmosphere didn't do it for me, but that's not going to stop me from going back there to get food again.

Disappointing Beef Stew Experience
I ordered the beef stew, which was described as cubed beef in berbere sauce. However, I am 99% sure they served me ground beef. While the taste was fine, when I inquired about it being cubed, the staff member stated, "we cut smaller because it's good for digestion.
" Additionally, the establishment is a straight-up dive bar, and it felt inappropriate to be ordering dinner there. I will explore a few other Ethiopian places before considering a return visit.

Deceptive Pricing for Veggie Platter
My experience at this restaurant was mixed. While the food was good, the prices were not as advertised online. We came in for drinks and decided to eat here because the website stated the all-you-can-eat veggie platter was $9.
50. However, upon arrival, we discovered the price had increased to $18. This felt like we were deceived.

Unexpected Ethiopian Gem in a Dive Bar
This place is a gem! It's a dive bar that surprisingly serves legit Ethiopian food. The owners are friendly and helpful.
It's almost off-putting how good it is, considering they seemingly just bought a neighborhood dive to start a business. I look forward to this place becoming an institution in 30 years.
