Consistently Excellent Sushi and More
My experience at Village Sushi has been consistently excellent over the years. The sushi and sashimi are of very high quality, truly ranking in the top 3 in the city. Beyond the sushi, the side dishes are terrific. The tempura is perfectly crisp, light, and never greasy. The scallop appetizer is described as 'a bit of heaven' and it's recommended to order rice to enjoy the leftover sauce. The agedashi tofu is the reviewer's standard for testing new places and is considered the best. All of this is offered at remarkably reasonable prices. The restaurant itself is in a modest spot, with Joe always playing jazz, dimmed lights, and surrounded by his paintings, offering a unique glimpse into his life. It's a bit different from a typical Japanese restaurant, but that doesn't detract from the food quality.

Phenomenal Sushi Experience!
My experience at this restaurant was absolutely phenomenal. I visited on a random evening with my girlfriend, searching for a sushi place on the avenue, and I was deeply impressed. The service was amazing, and the atmosphere was warm and relaxing. Their salmon teriyaki is quite frankly the best salmon I’ve had in my life. I now go here at least once a week. It's a bit expensive, but that’s to be expected at a sushi restaurant. The chef is incredibly kind and talented as well.

Best Tonkatsu Ever!
In September 2025, I had the best tonkatsu I've ever tasted in my life. The rainbow roll and California roll were also really good. I'm looking forward to trying the sashimi next time.
