Simple, Delicious Soft Serve Secret
You would never know that this little deli/convenience store tucked away in the Central District sells delicious soft serve ice cream in the summertime. These are your standard, no-fuss soft serve, and I love them. They have a creamy and light texture, are not overly sweet, and come with no hefty outrageous prices. I think they cost $4/cone. The size in the photo is a small, which is plenty big enough for me. I'm a bit of a soft serve junkie, and some of the places I've been to recently include Indigo Cow, The Pastry Project, MOTO Pizza, and Temple Pastries' new ice cream and sandwich shop. Out of all of them, I think King's Deli has the best because it's simple and unfussy. And the price can't be beat. The atmosphere is nothing special, but that's OK by me. One caveat: be sure to call them before you go just to make sure the soft serve machine is ON. Sometimes when I've stopped by, they haven't turned the machine on yet, and I have to come back, though in the summertime, it's usually on all the time. It's a hot tip secret and I aim to change that 😎.

Good Chicken and Jojos, Worth the Visit
My experience at this restaurant was a pleasant surprise, as the chicken is still good even after years of not visiting. It was nice to see they survived the gentrification. I got 3 big wings and 3 Jojos for $7. 50. Next time, I'm ordering extra Jojos with ranch. They also have big $2. 50 beef and veggie sambusas that I need to try. I do think they should add jalapeno poppers to the menu. The staff is very nice.

Reliable Corner Store for Family Favorites
My family and I have been frequenting this family-owned corner store for two years, and it's become a reliable spot for us. We've never had any issues with expired goods. They serve up delicious hot tenders, JoJo's, chicken wings, and corn dogs. What's great is their diverse grocery selection, which includes items for Ethiopian cuisine like lentils, teas, and spices, alongside American snacks such as Doritos, Grandma's cookies, and Faygo.
