Value (4.9 out of 10)

mentioned by 15% of the guests

While the overall customer satisfaction for value sits at a poor 38.9%, and the score is an average 4.9, some diners still find bright spots. Based on 7 positive remarks out of 18, guests occasionally praise the value for money and reasonable prices, noting that you get what you pay for and that portions can be great for the cost. Some even find great taste and value compared to competitors.

However, the majority of feedback, with 9 negative comments, points to significant concerns regarding price and worth it. Many feel its pricy or too expensive, with some stating prices are 2x what they should be. A major red flag is the service charge and non-itemized bill practice, where a 20% charge is added, followed by a request for an additional tip, described as a super shady trick'.

Delicious Korean Feast with Great Atmosphere
As a first-timer, my experience was overwhelmingly positive, with everything being delicious. I particularly enjoyed the mushroom banchan. The restaurant's setup, featuring a long central table, makes it suitable for large parties. The atmosphere was enhanced by the Kpop music playing. We tried several dishes: the Army Stew was a huge portion, though it could have used less rice cake. The Seafood Pancake was crispy and flavorful, becoming one of my favorites. The Chicken Wings were also juicy and crispy, a definite yum. The Braised Pork Belly, a special menu item, was served with lettuce and garlic. The Galbi had no complaints. Finally, the Kimchi Fried Rice was a nice accompaniment to the meat, though I've had better versions. The service and food were rated a perfect 5, and the atmosphere also received a 5, with a moderate noise level and no wait time.

Authentic Korean Gem with Exceptional Service
Bay Pocha is a true treasure tucked away in the Ingleside Terrace neighborhood. From the moment you step inside, the cozy space, adorned with traditional Korean touches, instantly transports you to Seoul. Our experience was made even more special by the extraordinary customer service. When my dad accidentally ordered Bulgogi instead of Galbi, our server graciously fixed the order without hesitation, a small act of kindness that spoke volumes. Every staff member is warm, attentive, and genuinely cares about their guests. The food itself is bold, comforting, and unforgettable. Both the Bulgogi Mushroom Stew and Galbi were phenomenal, bursting with flavor and served in generous portions. Each bite offered the same depth and authenticity I remember from dining in Korea. Bay Pocha may be small, but it's huge in heart, flavor, and hospitality. It's the kind of place you fall in love with after one visit and can't wait to return to. Their legendary Beef Rib Stew is next on my list! If you're in San Francisco and crave real Korean comfort food served with soul, Bay Pocha is an absolute must.

Shady Billing Practices, Beware!
Watch out — they will add a standard 20% service charge and then present you with a separate, non-itemized bill that asks for an 18%, 20% or 22% tip (without disclosing that the 20% service charge was already added). Don’t fall for this super shady trick.

Mediocre Food, High Prices, Poor Cleanliness
My experience at this restaurant was mediocre at best. The food wasn't prepped well, and the prices were double what they should be. The kimchi was okay, but overall, the restaurant was not very clean. Our table and chairs were sticky when we sat down. I would not recommend this place.
