What people like
  • Good value for money
  • Fresh and varied food
  • Quick service
What people don't like
  • Limited menu options
  • Rice and fish issues

With a Recommendation Score of 5.5, iKU Sushi & Bento presents itself as a place with potential, particularly if you prioritize affordability and speed. It could be a convenient choice for a quick, budget-conscious meal, especially if you’re seeking specific items like their bento boxes or fresh sushi.

Food (5.5 out of 10)

mentioned by 95% of the guests

When it comes to the food, many diners praise the variety and freshness of options like their sushi, bento lunch boxes, and even takoyaki and croquettes. Folks have found the food pretty good for takeout, with some calling the sushi and gyudon absolutely delicious. It seems there's a good selection for building your own sushi plate, offering tasty choices.

However, the experience is a bit of a mixed bag, with customer satisfaction sitting at a rather low 38.9%. Many opinions, 19 out of 54, highlight issues with the rice being soggy or bad, especially in sushi and nigiris where fish portions are thin. When it comes to service, there are definitely some bright spots! Many appreciate the grab-and-go concept for its convenience, especially if youre in a hurry, and the quickness of service is often highlighted. Plus, the Japanese staff consistently receives praise for being incredibly kind.

Limited Options, Okay Food
My experience at this restaurant was marked by limited options. There were very few choices for bento boxes, drinks, and sides. I was also disappointed that only sets were available, with no individual rolls offered. They do offer to warm up your bento if requested. My set was okay, and my friends enjoyed the katsu curry.

Scammers, Refuse to Honor MealPal
My experience at this restaurant was extremely negative. They are scammers who sell through MealPal but then refuse to honor pick-ups. They claim they "sold out" before allowing Meal-Pals with reservations to scan-in for their order, yet they still charge in the system. I have used MealPal for years and know that they can cancel orders for the day rather than surprising patrons and forcing them to go through customer service. I have had one positive experience here previously, where I had to wait for the food to be prepared along with other MealPal check-ins, as is typical. In fact, they have canceled on me in the past due to an issue with their kitchen, and I have the email notification from MealPal to prove it. I have passed along your response here to MealPal.

Disappointing Grab and Go Experience
My experience at this restaurant was disappointing as it is no longer a grab and go establishment. I was hoping to select individual pieces, as mentioned in older reviews, but this is no longer the case. Consequently, I left without eating and found food elsewhere. The premade bento boxes are priced at $17+, and I believe there are better value options available for that price.

Disappointing Change in Menu and Experience
I wish I had checked other reviews before visiting. This place is no longer grab and go, and you now have to order from their limited menu. I specifically visited to get some onigiris and rolls, but their menu has become quite small. Ultimately, I ordered their Mega set for $17, which was just okay. I believe there are better places to go in that same price range.
