Great Pho Despite Gritty Neighborhood
I was looking for some good Pho and ventured into the Tenderloin district of San Francisco. It's a pretty gritty neighborhood with all of the homelessness dwelling in the area. But this restaurant serves up excellent Vietnamese food!
I had the Bun Bo Hue and it was very tasty and filling. It warmed me up and made me happy. Service was good.
Not really liking the neighborhood, but I will be back.

Delicious Coffee and Rolls at Pho 808
I needed coffee before the First Thursday art walk, and every cafe was closed. Luckily, I decided to walk into Pho 808. I got Vietnamese coffee and Chagio (Imperial rolls) – wow!
The coffee was deliciously strong, and the ingredients were really fresh. The imperial roll was veggie-heavy, less meaty, but the fried skin was both crispy and delicate. I asked the sweet owner to refill my water bottle, and she was so gracious and caring about it.
Thank you! I will be back, maybe for pho next time.

I rarely write reviews, but I felt compelled to support this small business. I was hungover and looking for food, and stumbled upon this place online. Honestly, I had no idea what I was getting into, especially knowing the neighborhood.
I ordered the Beef Stew Noodle Soup for $16, and it was absolutely incredible – it truly hits the spot! 😮💨😮💨😮💨 I also asked for extra broth because I love soup, and the lady didn't even charge me for it. The soup was amazing and hit the spot perfectly!
There was a generous amount of beef and tendon, and it was very tender. The lady (owner?) and her son served me, and they were both so nice. While their English wasn't perfect, they were very kind people.
This is the kind of Asian food place where you know the food will be amazing – it fits the description of a 'hole in the wall' with giant numbers on the name and a mahjong table in the corner. The neighborhood itself isn't the best to walk around; it's fine during the day, but I'd recommend using Uber to get in and out.
